I think Dick lost a bet and the loser had to take the 500 most obscure words in the English language and create a nonsensical story out of them. Perhaps the only time I can for sure say that the movie was 100X better than the book.

Loved the book, great reading by Nick. Only complaint would be "the smile never reaching his/her eyes" is becoming redundant haha.

Best SF in a century

Found this an outstanding listen! The production is top notch and the performance of Nick Podehl is just short of amazing. The story seamlessly flows with 6-7 distinct accents of both genders plus 3 distinct AI characters and several Alien voices as well. Usually one person doing that many voices they all kinda blend together.

As for the story, I'm not a great judge of SF. The storyline is believable and all the characters are likeable, which is rare for any book. I prefer historical fiction, however this is the best SF I think I have ever listened to. I could be full of crap to you full time fans, but I liked it and I'm currently enjoying the next book

Only a Fooken Brain licker wouldn't love this book! Witty, yet a bit raw. Not for those who can't laugh at themselves a bit when they find their own Faux pas in the pages. well done

interesting stories, more sad than funny, so if your looking for humor keep looking.... unless you fall for ill timed laugh tracks, then maybe this IS for you haha

I have loved this story since the first time I saw the movie in the 70s humor and tragedy mixed up together kinda like real life. a shame it took me so long to read/listen to the book. the biggest take away from this book is how brutal the west really was. Life and death intermingled with humor and horror. you were lucky to survive, much less prosper. Here's to Jack Crabb unsung hero of the old west, may he never rest for there must be one more twist, one more jab, and one more joke to endure
