Historia
Hans-Åke Lilja, founder of Lilja's Library, has compiled a brand-new anthology of horror stories to celebrate 20 years of running the number-one Stephen King news website on the web! This anthology includes both original stories like a brand-new novella by John Ajvide Lindqvist (Let the Right One In), very rare reprints like "The Blue Air Compressor" by Stephen King, and at least one classic tale that inspired Lilja's love of the macabre at a very young age!

Wonderful surprise.
Revisado: 02-07-25
While I bought this collection for the opportunity to hear an early Stephen King story, it was the rest of the book which turned out to be very enjoyable, fresh, polished.

Disappointed
Revisado: 01-06-23
Such a wonderful start, but goes off the rails into an alternate universe, yawn. I was looking forward to seeing how Mr King would continue the story but feel cheated. He is so much better than this.

Just Awful
Revisado: 01-06-23
I love a good crime/mystery tale but this is not that. Constant repetitious reviews of life before the murders, of the BooHoo Woe Is Me type, quickly lose any sympathy for the Widows. The story itself moves in a strange fashion and I kept finding myself lost, restarting. The narrator used several different voices, all syrupy and pitched higher than normal speech, needlessly irritating. I should have returned this book.

Historia
Fresh out of rehab, Mallory Quinn takes a job as a babysitter for Ted and Caroline Maxwell. She is to look after their five-year-old son, Teddy. Mallory immediately loves it. She has her own living space, goes out for nightly runs, and has the stability she craves. And she sincerely bonds with Teddy, a sweet, shy boy who is never without his sketchbook and pencil. His drawings are the usual fare: trees, rabbits, balloons. But one day, he draws something different: a man in a forest, dragging a woman’s lifeless body.

Couldn't put this book down.
Revisado: 11-02-22
While the main character was young, and the narrator has a "girlish" voice for her, this did not seem like YA fiction.
Story is well written, evenly paced. My husband has the physical book so I did see the pictures before starting to listen but did not miss them as they were nicely described.

Interesting concept!
Revisado: 09-13-22
The author set herself to a difficult task: writing a story where the only way to solve and prevent a crime is by moving backwards through time. Not time travel as I think of it. I kept listening largely to see how the author makes this work, and what it does to the story. The method almost makes up for a weak story with tiresome hand-wringing.

Historia
When his father dies, Carl Martin, a philosophy graduate and struggling novelist, inherits a house in a trendy London neighborhood. Carl needs cash, however, so he rents the upstairs room and kitchen to the first person he interviews, Dermot McKinnon. That was colossal mistake number one. Mistake number two was keeping his father's bizarre collection of homeopathic "cures" that he found in the medicine cabinet, including a stash of controversial diet pills.

Tedious and disgusting, had to give up. Some details of forensics interesting but the constant childish bickering among Peace Officers up and down the chain of command just unbelievable.
