Drags on places
Revisado: 12-13-24
For the most part I enjoyed this audiobook. My biggest complaint is the pacing/flow. The book drags some of the high intensity scenes out too long and then, in the middle of a fight scene, will jump to a less interesting/intense scene with different characters. This ruins the rising tension and pulls me out of the story. I also think that there are too many flashbacks. The flashbacks mess with the flow and could maybe be handled better in a prologue. The problems with the book aren't enough to me put me off the author, and I plan to continue listening to this series.

My least favorite in the series
Revisado: 08-20-23
I typically like this series; however in this installment Gilstrap failed to make his characters, especially Jonathan, engaging and likeable. This book can easily be skipped and you wouldn't miss much as far as the series goes. If you are a diehard fan of the series, pick it up when it goes on sale. I honestly felt it was a waste of a credit.

Underwhelming
Revisado: 03-09-23
As a rule I enjoy the Orphan X series, but this installment seems to have lost its way. Evan spends more time talking about high end vodka than doing Orphan X type things. The two bright spots in the book were Joey and Candy. If you aren't a hardcore fan I recommend using your credit on a different book. You won't miss anything by skipping this book.

Historia
To survive where I live, you have two options. You can be a Normal - a cheerleader, jock, member of the debate team, or on the yearbook committee. You pretend everything is normal. Or you can be crew. You insult us? We hurt you. You hurt us? We really hurt you. And if you f--k with us, we will end you. My name is Bren. I'm the only female in the Wolf Crew - the best, fiercest, and most dangerous crew there is - and we have a rule: There's no falling in love. Well...too late.

Not my favorite Tijan book
Revisado: 02-27-19
This isn't one of Tijan's best books. I actually found it to be very boring and I had to force myself to finish it. This book had no point, other to introduce us to the crew system and to introduce us to the Wolf Crew and set us up for more books in this series.
When the plot is character driven, you need a character that you can connect to and become invested in. I couldn't connect to Bren. Bren had locked up her emotions so tightly, she couldn't even address them in her internal monologues. Despite fact the whole book was from her point of view, you never get to really know her. For that reason, the romance between Cross and Been didn't work for me.
I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone except for Fallen Crest fans who are interested in glimpses of Heather and Channing. Those were the best parts of this book.

Historia
The explosive sequel to the Greig Beck blockbuster Fathomless. Cate Granger is chasing ghosts. The monster shark she once encountered was a remnant of the ancient world - one that had escaped an underwater lair previously sealed off for millions of years. At great cost, Cate and her allies had killed the beast. So, no more ghosts, no more shadows. All gone. Or so Cate thought.

The first book was much better.
Revisado: 01-25-19
I typically enjoy Greig Beck's books, but this one really missed the mark. I struggled because the story just didn't work. It is one thing if the people in this book were facing a prehistoric shark for the first time, but since this is a sequel and the returning main characters all have lived through the first book and know what they were up against, I think that they would have made better decisions.
The plot was dependent on these characters making "the only" decision they could make in a situation they should have known, from their experiences in the first book, was not going to end well, someone dying, not unpredictably, and then the cycle starting all over again. Rinse and repeat. The body count was ridiculously high all in the attempt to save three people in the bottom of the ocean.
The final showdown was beyond unsatisfying as well. I honestly wished I stopped the series at book one.

This book was a struggle for me to finish. The story was mediocre and the narration wasn't any better. The main character was supposed to be a Bedouin Sheikh but narrator made him sound Indian. It was pretty jarring and kept pulling me out of the story.

This book was a struggle for me finish. The only reason I kept listening was to find out who was behind the problems the clan was having (this isn't resolved. You have to listen to the next book).
The narrator was not very good. I think that was why the book just dragged. I ended up speeding up the book to 1.5x just to make it through to the end. I don't think I'll continue on to the next book in the series.

I usually really enjoy Bourne's books. This book was good, bit the ending was rushed and a little confusing. I am not sure if this was because it was being left open for a third installment. I would have enjoyed it more if there was a better resolution.

Historia
Dr. Lisa Duncan and Special Forces officer Mike Turcotte know better than anyone that no secret is safe for long - especially one that offers untold power. Case in point: No sooner does Turcotte’s elite Area 51 team uncover a dormant alien ship in Earth's orbit than a group of alien-human hybrids seizes it and uses its technology to commandeer a satellite array bristling with nuclear missiles. Now they’re demanding that humankind hand over the key to an ancient stash of alien technology…or watch an entire continent be reduced to atomic rubble.
