Rich, tangible storytelling enhanced by the sublime reading of Donald Sutherland. I love Santiago’s indomitable courage and resourcefulness.

This is my first time through the classic, A Tale of Two Cities. Since Dickens experimented with his writing style, I found the narration, by Julian Rhind-Tutt, helpful in keeping me motivated and moving forward.

What a wonderful story. Brutal in its depiction of the Reign of Terror, Dickens juxtaposes the kindness of a few with the wild ferocity of the mob. It is compelling to say the least.

I cannot say enough about the performance. Outstanding and worth the listen.

Rosamund Pike’s interpretation of Austin’s
Classic is brilliant. As the actress who played Jane in the 2005 movie adaptation, she is equipped like no other.

The story never looses its charm for me. There is so much wit and subtle humor. Every new reading exposes more of Austen’s brilliance in capturing the subtleties of human nature which she observed so keenly.

Dan Steven’s reading of this classic broke my heart. His monster was pitiable and his Frankenstein was carelessly disposable. Highly recommend.

I decided to listen to this on a whim. Interested in Steinbeck, but hadn’t made the time as an adult. Lovely, lovely and worth my time. Lee is my favorite character and the “conscience” of the tale. Surprisingly, overall, it wasn’t as crushing as I expected it to be in the end.
The reader was fantastic.

I read this title after a recommendation from my daughter. She had encountered the work during a politics course in college, and upon learning of a friend of mine suffering from PTSD, suggested I read it. As I listened, Odysseus in America helped me to put some of my friend’s behaviors and impulses into a language I could understand. Dr, Shay’s studies explain some of the manifestations of the injuries suffered and how to walk along with someone going through PTSD, even if that only means a silent awareness on my part. I highly recommend the work.

I’ve walked past this book on the shelf for years. I finally picked it up while passing time at the hospital, caretaking. What a treat it has been! I’d read the paperback book and listen to Bill Homewood while working on something or cleaning the house. The narrator’s reading brought the characters to rich life with his amazing dramatization. Sometimes, after reading an especially harrowing scene, I’d listen to the same chapter again to experience Mr.Homewood’s delivery.
What a discovery Dumas and The Count were for me! Romance, intrigue, and a hero… compelling reasons to go along for the 1200 page, 43 hour journey to redemption.
