Historia
James Dommek, Jr., an Alaska Native writer and musician, sheds new light on a real-life mystery that pits Native American folklore against the US justice system. In the vast Alaskan Arctic, legend has it there once lived a mythic tribe—Iñukuns—that only existed in rumors and whispers. This changed forever when an actor-turned-fugitive, Teddy Kyle Smith, had an encounter that brought Iñukuns from myth to reality. Smith was an aspiring actor with a promising career until it all came quickly crashing down with a gunshot, a manhunt, bloodshed, and other frightful events.

Historia
In 1915, when a kitchen stove fire singed his sister Mabel's lashes and brows, Tom Lyle Williams watched in fascination as she performed what she called "a secret of the harem" - mixing petroleum jelly with coal dust and ash from a burnt cork and applying it to her lashes and brows. Mabel's simple beauty trick ignited Tom Lyle's imagination, and he started what would become a billion-dollar business, one that remains a viable American icon after nearly a century. He named it Maybelline in her honor.

Would you listen to The Maybelline Story and the Spirited Family Dynasty Behind It again? Why?
I might, if only to make sure I didn't miss anything important! Such intrigue, and vibrant personalities.
Which character – as performed by Kerrie Seymour – was your favorite?
So hard to choose! Evelyn stands out to me even now as a strong woman for her time, and Kerrie really brings her decisions out without casting judgment through her reading.

Great end to series!
Revisado: 06-03-17
Would you consider the audio edition of Warlord to be better than the print version?
Having not read the print version, I'm going to guess that yes, I would consider it better - Maggie Mash really gets you in to the characters and brings their words to life.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Damin. He really comes in to his own in this book, and takes his mantle of Warlord in stride.
Have you listened to any of Maggie Mash’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Yes, but only in this series. Very comparable, I enjoy that she was able to do this whole trilogy, it really helped with continuity.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I wanted to! Too long to do that, but it kept me entertained every second. I love that it was unabridged.

Wonderful, gripping story!
Revisado: 03-03-16
If you could sum up When You Make It Home in three words, what would they be?
Compelling, touching, and satisfying.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Tough choice. Meg was very intriguing and believable in her choices and the way things progress, and Ellie is a great supportive friend.
What does Piper Brown bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
The depth and complexity of the characters. For example, Theo was very approachable, just gruff enough without being overdone - I don't know that I would have read that into the character.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes! I mostly listen in the car, and I wanted to stay in the car longer to see what happened next!
Any additional comments?
I have listened to Piper's previous recordings as well, and they are always strong narratives and well executed. Intriguing story from Claire Ashby, and excellent overall experience. Worth a listen!

Great Narration for a Sweet Story
Revisado: 10-04-15
If you could sum up For Sure & Certain in three words, what would they be?
Sweet, Simple, and Complete.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Abel. His transition to "city-life" was intriguing, and his character was very complete.
Which scene was your favorite?
Probably the first time Abel and Lily had a serious conversation; second favorite would be when Marigold decided to stay - I had already imagined her fitting in quite well.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Definitely, I laughed at multiple places and brushed back a couple tears over the course of the book. It's a really touching story, and one that I think deserves a listen (or read).
Any additional comments?
The depth of characters is apparent in both the writing and the narration. Piper Brown does a great job of differentiating the characters and giving them life and personality. Each voice is separate and meaningful, and it really makes the story come together and be complete.

Romances are not usually my cup of tea, but I found this one sweet and delightfully tender. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Narration was wonderful; the characters really came alive through their varied natures, but at no point were the differences distracting or awkward. Give it a listen!
