I'm tired of too much S&M and rape fantasies

I like John Ringo's book very much but towards the end of the series all the sexual innuendos and foreshadowing cum out in full force. This includes S&M, rape fantasies and so much more. When saving the world is the most important story line possible there is always time for the hero thinking about how he hopes he don't lose control of your secret bondage urgings and...it goes on and on. It feels like it was written for the 12 year old with a flashlight and a towel under the covers at night.

One more thing, if you want to use f**ck as your primary expletive just use it. It just sound ridiculous to keep saying "fisk this or fisk that.

Enough is Enough

The first several books were fun to read while Alex was a starving young detective working in the gutter. Then he started making more money and working with the rich and famous and dating the worlds most famous sorcerers. Then it just got stupid.

So Far

The story is interesting and and the performance is well done. But ever once in a while for several pages it gets downright STUPID. The only thing I can think is that the author is trying to hook young teenagers who are using it to,,,well you get the picture. Once you get the flow you can just skip several pages and get on with the story.

I've had enough. With 8 chapters left and I've had enough. If I wanted a syrupy romantic novel that's what I would have bought one. Having discovered a new vision of reality so different it could destroy ancient history and possibly cause global destruction. Spoiler alert

Having made the discovery he immediately t6ells his new girlfriend and her professor. And they start making plans to tell the world.
The foreshadowing makes the plot transparent. Have fun.

A Few Problems

I like the story, for the most part, I'll cut it short. I've listened to the first 20 hours and I am having a problem listening to a 14 year old kid bemoaning that his one true love isn't coming on to him. Oh yeah, he's poor, ragged and often has no shoes yet he's constantly getting what he wants by out arguing most of the adults he needs something.

Next Edit: I don't know how to express this. Yes I do. When the plot needs to move in another direction the teenagers act as if nothing ever happened even when their friends argue otherwise. Yet I am still listening.

Let Me Save The Day

It's a fun story right from the beginning but it gradually goes over the top. The solution to all the plot problems seems to be at the point the problem seems unbeatable there's a new invention, a new human ability or a barrel of luck drops into the story. It begins to get fairly boring.

Not even 1/4 of way through and I will admit so far I am enjoying it. However, I must make the same complaint I have been making for the last several years. The protagonist is whiny, complaining. and self centered. I'm done for now.

Steampunk with no description how it works.

The story was interesting but not what you want to listen to while working. A lot of characters doing a lot of things in a lot of different places. I would have appreciated more explanation by the characters on how the steampunk weapons worked.

Are There No Aliens

Great story. It's simple in that there is no intrigue that doesn't belong; no treachery where it doesn't fit and little honor that isn't for for sale.

And then there's the hero. He goes here and there and everywhere saving men, woman and children along the way. Then, when there is break in the hero business a he takes a few minutes so he can whine for awhile, self flagellate, and blame himself for not saving more men, women and children.
