Historia
Omar Haddad is a brutal jihadist in Syria who appears to be invulnerable and capable of supernatural feats. But is Haddad divine, as he claims? Is he a gifted magician? Or is he making use of a stunning scientific breakthrough? And what, exactly, is keeping him from unleashing the global apocalypse he’s so eager to bring about? Brennan Craft, a quirky quantum physics genius, has the answers, and the US military is desperate to capture him.

I absolutely LOVED this audiobook!
Revisado: 12-26-24
The ideas in this book truly resonated with me- just totally fascinating and thought provoking. I appreciated the author’s ending comments explaining what was fact and where it was derived from- I want to continue with the books he referred to and learn more. And I want to recommend this book, and especially the audiobook, to everyone I know!

This was a book like none other I have read!
Revisado: 07-20-23
I absolutely loved listening to this book- so much so that I gardened for far too long today(and in the hot Texas sun of summer). I could not stop listening. I was transported to another time in another country, and immersed in a culture that I did not know much about. I came to love the characters dearly. The narration was excellent! I will look for more books he has narrated. Overall, it was a quite enjoyable listen! I am only disappointed that the author has only written one other book.

An epic of remarkable originality, Alone captures the heroism of World War II as movingly as any book in recent memory. Bringing to vivid life the world leaders, generals, and ordinary citizens who fought on both sides of the war, Michael Korda, the best-selling author of Clouds of Glory, chronicles the outbreak of hostilities, recalling as a prescient young boy the enveloping tension that defined pre-Blitz London, and then as a military historian the great events that would alter the course of the 20th century.

Historia
Martha Hale is an affable wife and mother who lives in an affluent neighborhood of well-tended lawns and high expectations. If only her clumsiness at penetrating the social circles of her neighbors weren’t making Martha so lonely. That’s why she’s thrilled when the glamorous Minnie Foster, a former high school classmate, moves in next door. Despite Martha’s determination, picking up where they left off is trickier than anticipated—especially when their memories of the past don’t always align. But Martha is undeterred.

Just not for me...
Revisado: 01-15-23
This book was really a strange one, and I had a hard time finishing it. The narrator has a "breathy" voice which I find annoying. She drops to a "whispery" tone very often, so forget trying to listen in bed- you can't get the volume right. if I'd noticed it was her again, I'd have deleted the book without listening to it.
Over all, the book was a waste if my time.

Historia
In his final novel - which he considered his most important - Aldous Huxley transports us to the remote Pacific island of Pala, where an ideal society has flourished for 120 years. Inevitably, this island of bliss attracts the envy and enmity of the surrounding world. A conspiracy is underway to take over Pala, and events are set in motion when an agent of the conspirators, a newspaperman named Faranby, is shipwrecked there. What Faranby doesn't expect is how his time with the people of Pala will revolutionize all his values and - to his amazement - give him hope.

Revisado: 04-19-22
I absolutely loved it. It was a little slow to start, but once I got going I couldn't stop. This book should be on every schools curriculum. Aldous Huxley has given us the outline of a perfect human society...how I wish I had lived there. Brilliant!

Historia
On July 30, 1945, the USS Indianapolis was torpedoed in the South Pacific by a Japanese submarine. An estimated 300 men were killed upon impact; close to 900 sailors were cast into the Pacific Ocean, where they remained undetected by the navy for nearly four days and nights. Battered by a savage sea, they struggled to stay alive, fighting off sharks, hypothermia, and dementia. By the time rescue arrived, all but 317 men had died. The captain's subsequent court-martial left many questions unanswered

A concise guide to breaking bad habits. And even replacing them with good habits. I enjoyed this audio book- it's only an hour long. I will listen again, and this time take notes, and write down the steps for reference. I plan to check out the author's other books also.

Historia
In 2001 Mo Gawdat realized that despite his incredible success, he was desperately unhappy. A lifelong learner, he attacked the problem as an engineer would: examining all the provable facts and scrupulously applying logic. Eventually, his countless hours of research and science proved successful, and he discovered the equation for permanent happiness. Thirteen years later, Mo's algorithm would be put to the ultimate test. After the sudden death of his son, Ali, Mo and his family turned to his equation—and it saved them from despair.

Loved it!
Revisado: 07-18-20
I totally enjoyed listening to this audio book, and I think it was partly because I found the author's voice and accent so pleasant. His thoughts on happiness, and his explanation of his logic to arrive at them just thoroughly resonated with me. His telling of the tragedy in his life, and his reasoning to arrive at inner peace with it, made ME feel joy for him.
Thank you for your helping us along this journey, Mo Gawdat!

Could have been a good book, but...
Revisado: 06-08-20
For some reason, I did not care for the narrator's voice- to the point where I struggled to finish the book.
Also, the author went into too much detail quite often, making it hard to pay attention. Lots of backtracking here. But I did finish it.
