Great characters who stay with you after the story is over
Revisado: 03-23-25
Great characters with integrity trying to solve really difficult lives during WW2
The first third of the story is so hard to listen to because their situations are so dire…lots of action in the middle and then each persons story eventually worked out in believable ways
Really great at setting the Blitz and all people endured in an accessible way
I love this writer’s style and research that is embedded in her stories

The absolutely delightful development of the 2 main characters who were completely unique as heroes
Revisado: 03-06-25
I am not an action story ready and I was so wrapped up in the suspense and double crossings but this is a book that begs to be made into a movie!!!! I pictured Mrs Braithwaite to be a not-evil Professor Umbridge and Mr Norris Pierce Brosnan as he takes on older roles. Their character development was pure delight! The writing was clever and the narrator was fantastic!

Great story and perfect narrator
Revisado: 01-02-24
I know several people with Asperger’s syndrome and the boy’s observations were so spot on. The story was good but it was all about Ted for me and the insights into how his mind worked. I have listened to it 3 or 4 times!

Historia
Sam is, to say the least, bookish. An English major of the highest order, her diet has always been Austen, Dickens, and Shakespeare. The problem is that both her prose and conversation tend to be more Elizabeth Bennet than Samantha Moore. But life for the 23-year-old orphan is about to get stranger than fiction. An anonymous, Dickensian benefactor calling himself Mr. Knightley offers to put Sam through Northwestern University’s prestigious Medill School of Journalism. There is only one catch: Sam must write frequent letters to the mysterious donor, detailing her progress.

A more modern "Daddy Long Legs"
Revisado: 11-06-22
I liked this a lot, but the "discover" did not come off well...both the main characters seemed selfish and wrong at this point. LOVED the descriptions of places I actually have gone to sprinkled throughout the book. The story itself is really sweet and is read well

Started slow but really was a good listen!
Revisado: 11-06-22
At first I detested one of the main characters, loved another and was indifferent to the other 2...as the story draws you in you even out and like them all equally...such a great job of character development! The story is small but huge...a little baking contest and 4 entrants going through differently difficult lives after each being devastated by different aspects of WW2. Very realistic in their growth and just another incredible slice of the real WW2. I loved it.

Historia
Tom Felton’s adolescence was anything but ordinary. His early rise to fame in beloved films like The Borrowers catapulted him into the limelight, but nothing could prepare him for what was to come after he landed the iconic role of the Draco Malfoy, the bleached blonde villain of the Harry Potter movies. For the next ten years, he was at the center of a huge pop culture phenomenon and yet, in between filming, he would go back to being a normal teenager trying to fit into a normal school. Speaking with great candor and his signature humor, Tom shares his experience.

Being a "Hufflepuff" by sorting (Yes I am a Harry Potter Geek!), I was unsure what to expect from "Draco"...what a delightful audio book! He is really fun to listen to and has a great style of writing. This is a great read for Harry Potter fans, even if you are NOT Slytherins!

this would have been a better book for me if I liked and rooted for the main character...I was really disappointed in a lot of her actions and reactions...she was just not likable for me.
