The crooks fled with duffel bags crammed full of cash, gold, silver, stamps, coins, jewels, and high-end jewelry. The true value of the loot has always been kept secret, partly because it was ill-gotten to begin with, and partly because there was plenty of incentive to keep its true worth out of the limelight.

A great book

A fun and interesting book regarding some of the most notorious figures in New England mob history. Really well written and narrated. I got this book after finishing the first season of the podcast CRIMETOWN. Definitely worth getting.

I expected more from this book. Even though it was a little dry, I was fascinated by the topic. There was a lot of good information but it seemed like it ended abruptly and didn't tie all of the pieces together. Overall, not too bad but left me a bit disappointed.

Great book but

I am a huge Howie Carr fan and love his writing (and radio show) but honestly the narrator of this book ruined it for me. He speaks in a fake wise guy manner which is only interrupted by an even worse fake Boston accent. As a life long resident of the area, I cringed each time he did it.
You might not be as affected by this as I was...and honestly it's a great story which is very well written. Worth purchasing but be warned..
