Historia
Detective Inspector Siobhan Clarke is feeling the heat. She's investigating the death of a senior government prosecutor, David Minton, who has friends in high places. When one of their own is killed, the powers that be want answers fast. But Clarke is puzzled: If Minton died in a robbery as everyone thinks, why is nothing missing from his home? The answer may lie not in what was taken but in what was left behind at the scene - an ominous note.

No one like Rebus!
Revisado: 02-06-17
I have yet to encounter a Rebus story I didn't like. Rankin's Rebus is one of the great fictional detectives of all time.

McKinty always delivers
Revisado: 12-11-14
Just do yourself a favour and read/listen to anything this man writes. Scarred up, messed up characters that you can't help but love or at least root for. Engaging and believable plots. A good twist or two. Great peripheral characters and excellent pacing. You won't ever go wrong with McKinty.

Captivating
Revisado: 12-11-14
Having Stephen King narrate makes this story sizzle. A wonderfully slow, lazy, well crafted build to a truly creepy story where the ghost(s) are not the most frightening characters. It is the nuanced language, the depth of human insight and pacing that makes this story truly captivating. Worth ever second.

Historia
Germany, 1660: When a dying boy is pulled from the river with a mark crudely tattooed on his shoulder, hangman Jakob Kuisl is called upon to investigate whether witchcraft is at play in his small Bavarian town. Whispers and dark memories of witch trials and the women burned at the stake just seventy years earlier still haunt the streets of Schongau.

Sweet taste of history and fiction
Revisado: 12-11-14
A shot in the dark that I truly enjoyed. I enjoy books that can give you a real taste of what a time must have been like and this delivers. A 17th century back drop full of greed, suspicion and mystery. A tale of poverty, hardship and witchcraft. Only a few of the characters live by their wits and not their fears and up until the end you aren't quite sure which group of citizens of this small European town will win.

Historia
A former Delta Force commander, Brad Taylor proves with this breathtaking debut thriller that Vince Flynn and Brad Thor have company. A collection of top operatives, the Taskforce was commissioned by the highest levels of government, kept secret from the media and even Congress. The best of the Taskforce bunch, Pike Logan knows the greatest threat to American security is one or two idealogues. Unfortunately for them, they’ve just crossed Pike’s path.

Better than excepted
Revisado: 12-11-14
As with most books I got this one on sale. Always a hit and miss proposition. I was pleasantly surprised. The story has some 'oh come on' moments where suspension of disbelief is high but I found myself drawn into the story regardless. There are actually two male narrators. One handles all but the lead character Pike. Some level of cliche going on but a good yarn with a few sweet twists. I also appreciate the lack of stupid love interest stuff (sorry for the spoiler) but I get annoyed at stories that plunge into that territory for the sake of titilating readers. It wasn't necessary for this story and I'm glad the author avoided it.

McKinty Rocks Again
Revisado: 10-12-14
This is supposed to be a young reader book but Adrian McKinty is a skilled writer so the story works no matter you age. The kids are well written and conceived. The plot a wonderful piece of sic fi without being over the top and who can go wrong with Gerard Doyle. Don't let the suggested age range fool you in to passing this by.

Amazing Historical Fiction
Revisado: 10-12-14
Great, challenging and believable story that is anchored by a stunning performance by Dick Hill. The 21 hrs never dragged and thankfully I found another of Greg Iles's stories narrated by Dick Hill and was again blown away by the quality. If you like historical fiction you will LOVE this book.

Historia
There are some odd things about Nate’s new apartment. Of course, he has other things on his mind. He hates his job. He has no money in the bank. No girlfriend. No plans for the future. So while his new home isn’t perfect, it’s livable. The rent is low, the property managers are friendly, and the odd little mysteries don’t nag at him too much. At least, not until he meets Mandy, his neighbor across the hall, and notices something unusual about her apartment. And Xela’s apartment. And Tim’s. And Veek’s.

Under the Radar Find
Revisado: 10-12-14
Would you listen to 14 again? Why?
Better than anticipated since it was a sale book. The narration was strong and the secret is held just long enough that you don't get tired of waiting.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Nathan Turner is a surprisingly likeable character. He discovers that he is more than the slacker, going no where guy he thinks he is when the mysteries of his new apartment start to reveal themselves.
Which scene was your favorite?
It's a great surprise when you finally discover what the secrets of the building really are. Never saw that coming.
