Why is this listed in Erotica? Author should check on that. I’m more than halfway through and I don’t think even the biggest prude would call this erotica.
It’s a great tale so far. I’m glad I took a chance because I like the work of TGR.

I’m loving this!
My only edit would be the fight scenes. A little shorter and you have perfection.
And TGR is awesome as usual!

I got this omnibus on a whim. I was pleasantly surprised by both the story AND the narrator.
The story is brutal in places and slow in others, but overall quite good.
Take a chance!

Basically, the spoiled princeling wins. He bides his time and takes an awesome revenge on all the descendants of his enemies. I refuse to count the fact that the prince is eventually killed in a later tale as a win. The harm the exiled prince does to the people in the world Sullivan built is incalculable. Millions dead, suffering beyond all reasoning and all your favorites dead. Ugh, what a dreary disappointment! And book one was so very promising too. *sigh*
I really wanted to love this series because I really liked the foundations laid down in the first book. There was so much potential for a magical and thrilling alternate world. I don't know what happened with/to the author, but my oh my what a complete loser of an ending.
I won't waste my time on anything else by this author/ in this series, and I truly wish I could get my time (and my money) back!

Tim is flawless, as usual. He's the only reason I found these books in the first place.

It's been a long time since I've read a book so BAD it made me want to submit my own manuscripts to a publisher along with a review longer than "Fantastic!!!". This book is one of them and clearly, the high ratings for book one (1) has got to be because the author is a nice person who has lots of friends.
How can a story be this tedious, silly, repetitive, derivative and meandering??
Silly characters making stupid choices, wrapped in derivative nonsense that's not even fun. The entire book should have been two chapters at most. If I have to hear the word 'expelled' one more time........... (Editor!!)
I've read many stories about teen transitional stuff that were not this anxiety-riddled and just ... ugh!
If you like a good, deep plot progression, don't bother.
If you like characters who have been properly fleshed out, even if they live in a crappy 'world', don't bother.
If you like a good story that weaves a good yarn with lots of fun and laughs despite the fact that you know it's not high literature, don't bother.
If you like strong characters making their way in a newly constructed world, don't bother.
If you like a fast pace with witty banter, and decent plot progression, don't bother.
Cheesy. Derivative. Simplistic. Tedious.

That being said, I might try the second book (having skipped to end of the first) ,depending on the reviews, because I am a person who lives in hope. There must be a reason that there are at least four (4) more books. I might try the next one to see why.

The story is great. Robertson again seamlessly deposits us into a familiar world complete with a well-developed system of magic and myth.
Tim Gerald Reynolds delivers another great vocal performance.
The technical recording, however, is horrible. It needs to go back to the studio for remastering right away.

I got into these books to see how this world went from the lofty origins of elves, magic and sorcery, to filth, whores, beatings and cruel dictatorships. I am right back to having to acknowledge that the elf prince won. He bent the world to his revenge, caused the misery and death of millions and came to within a breath of winning it all.
I'm glad Royce got to see Mercy, but now it's time for Sullivan to show some to his readers and end this. That sucking sound is this narrative going down the tubes.
Tim Gerald Reynold is a delight, as usual.

This story had potential, but good gracious did it fall flat.
Magic, swords, smokey inns and grand cross country adventures are my thing, but this story was a waste of time. I gave it to the end to see if it would turn around, but no joy.
Don't waste your time with this one.

The years between the release of the first and second book was well worth it!
The story continues to bring you along with a brilliant combination of flashbacks and plot threads that weave the story and characters together in a brilliant manner. Unlike other action/sword and sorcery/fantasy stories that I've read, this one properly balances the pace of the adversity the main characters face with the reader's hopes for the 'good guys' to prevail. Watching the development of the friendships/relationships among the main characters is extremely interesting given the strict social system that is central to the story. There is humour and excitement, sadness and hope, shock and intrigue. I hope the next book will be along soon!
Tim Gerard Reynold is my favorite narrator and this performance is another great example of what I have come to love about his performances! Great work!

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I would tell my fantasy-loving friends to read/listen with caveats.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

1. Cut the juvenile sexist nonsense with the two female characters. If you can't flesh the females out because you don't know how they think, pull a JRRT and leave them out of the story almost entirely.
2. Figure out what's going on with the timeline. One minute he's a skinny kid, the next he's ?? who knows?? It's not clear. Then he starts boinking his girlfriend and that adds to the confusion with this timeline.
3. Ditch the trite, modern, moralistic junk. The monsters are coming, Who cares if their mommies might miss them if they never make it home? Not me.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The narrator has a nice voice, but he needs range. I don't care if he's got to hold his nose or talk with grapes in his mouth, find some more voices and do better with the female voices. Go have a listen to Tim Gerard Reynolds, Jim Dale etc. Those guys can have three or four people interacting in a 'scene' and you can pick out each one.

Could you see Lusam: The Dragon Mage Wars, Book 3 being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

No. I can't see this story as a movie yet. Maybe one of those cheesy SciFi series, but the story and characters are not complex enough for the silver screen. More work is needed.

Any additional comments?

This story needs an editor. A real editor. One with a better command of the English language than the current one. I'm listening to it and constantly correcting things in my head. This could be great rather than so-so. Clearly, the author can create something like another word, but...It needs work. One quick example: Things drop to the ground when one is outside, to the floor when one is inside. PLEASE stop mixing those two up. It's SO annoying!
