TW intense rape scene

The TW that is given at the beginning of the book is not adequate warning about the very intense and descriptive rape scene. Can’t continue the book, or the series.

Accents are wretched, story isn’t her best

She’s supposed to be American, but her American accent is horrible. He’s supposed to be British (one of them is) but he drops the accent so much. I can handle him, but her accent is very distracting.
I’ve read newer books by this author and they are great. But this series lacks a lot. I’m wondering if there are several authors using the same name. Anyway, I stuck with it but kinda wish I hadn’t.

Female narrator was wretched, Male narrator was excellent

The story was funny, the male narrator was great, but the female narrator had me cringing and turning down the volume. Her voice is so caustic and unpleasant.

I certainly hope no young, impressionable people read this and misunderstand it to be a story of love. This is a story of two very ill people who desperately need therapy and a helluva lot of it.

Let’s be honest - we read this genre for the spice and the HEA. When the author throws in curveballs that trigger readers, it’s time to find a new author.

Excellent story, and the performers are AMAZING!

The characters are both oddly likable (even in their inherent unlikability). A large part of this is the performers’ ability to add a richness and depth to the character development. Whatever these two performers got paid, double it!

SO DARN CONFUSING

The plot is all over the place. It’s reads like the 2nd book in a series, as if there’s a ton of stuff readers should already know in order to keep up. I couldn’t get past the first several chapters. The author needs a story map or something.

HORRIBLE narration

Good Lord, this was so hard to listen to. The story was great, but the narration was horrendous. The male narrator made the females sound like an angry Minnie Mouse, and the female narrator sounded like she was falling asleep. Oi.

Susan Stoker is a great author, but the horrendous narration makes this almost impossible to listen to. I’ll be •reading• the rest of the series if it’s the same narrator. Her male voices are cringeworthy.
