Not 2 hrs 15 minutes long, try 75 minutes long

Review 101. Star Trek Borg by Hilary Bader, narrated by Howard McGillin featuring John deLancie and a Full Cast.
This is the audio book of one of my favourite old Star Trek games, Star Trek Borg which was released in 1996.
While maintaining a mostly similar story to the game, the main difference is that the main character (Cadet Qaylan Furlong) is actually narrating a log entry more than six months after the events of the game which the player has a hand in completing.
I found it very enjoyable to listen to this book as it was slightly different to the original story, and John De Lancie as Q was just as funny as I remembered from playing the game. I found myself laughing at several parts because of his dialogue.
I did enjoy listening to this book even though it is exceptionally short (75 minutes), but it isn't something that I will listen to again so have returned it to get a refund of the audible credit I used.
If you are a fan of the Star Trek Borg interactive adventure game, then you will enjoy this book.

Review 38. How To Build An Aircraft Carrier by Chris Terrill, narrated by Adam James.
I loved this book.
HMS Queen Elizabeth is the first of the Royal Navy's 2 new aircraft carriers and a technological marvel.
I've learnt a lot about the technology that has gone into building the ship and learnt a lot of details about the ship including issues with it on sea trials.
The details about her crew and their personal quirks was amazing.
The chapter about her first arrival into her homeport of Portsmouth on the 16th August 2017 was probably my favourite part of the first half of this book because I was actually in Portsmouth when she arrived. I've seen this massive ship enter the harbour twice, but the first time was the most impressive because of the crew all dressed in their best uniforms were stood on the edge of the flight deck (Procedure Alpha) and the aircraft that we're flying around her.
I loved learning about the first captain of the Queen Elizabeth, Jerry Kyd and how he would never touch alcohol at sea, ate on his own each evening and loved his stewards choice of reggae music (in particular Boombastic by Shaggy).
This book had me smiling when Captain Jerry Kyd was leaving the ship in New York Harbour, about how he quietly wanted to leave the ship (but his crew had another idea) and the amazing gift he gave to his personal steward.
This book contained so many details about this fantastic ship and her amazing crew. I never thought I would enjoy listening to a 12 hour audiobook about one Royal Navy warship, but I did.
I loved the part of this book in chapter 53 which was about a possible Arctic diversion for the ship enroute home, but was in fact a prank about supporting a special air transport mission in December from a bright red craft.
I will definitely be looking to buy this book in physical format as soon as I can.

Historia
When COVID-19 sweeps through New York City, Jamie Gray is stuck as a dead-end driver for food-delivery apps. That is, until Jamie makes a delivery to an old acquaintance, Tom, who works at what he calls “an animal rights organization”. Tom’s team needs a last-minute grunt to handle things on their next field visit. Jamie, eager to do anything, immediately signs on. What Tom doesn't tell Jamie is that the animals his team cares for are not here on Earth. Not our Earth, at at least. In an alternate dimension, dinosaur-like creatures named Kaiju roam a warm and human-free world.

The Kaiju Preservation Society - 4*

I enjoyed this book, but found parts of it confusing.
This book is set at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic (March 2020) and the main character, Jamie, is stuck as a delivery driver for food delivery apps until he finds an old friend, who works for what he calls an "animal rights organisation".
I particularly like the fact that this book makes mention of Pacific Rim and Jurassic Park (two of my favourite films).
I loved the fact that the author had created an idea that the kaiju were monitored closely to ensure that they don't come through to our world.
The amount of information the author came up with about the kaiju actually made sense about films like godzilla.
I will be honest, I didn't enjoy Wil Wheaton's performance on this audiobook as much as I have on other books (The Martian, Ready Player One and Armada) because he was slightly annoying in places.
I will listen to this book again, but it won't be for a while.
I can't say too much about this book because that will spoil the story, this book is however very short to listen i.e. 8 hours long.

Definitely not for me.

DNF Review 2. We Are Legion (We Are Bob): Bobiverse, Book 1 by Dennis E. Taylor, narrated by Ray Porter
This book was recommended to me several times by a friend and I resisted getting it until recently.
I know they will be disappointed that I am calling this a DNF after 50% of the book, but it just wasn't for me.
This book is an almost 10 hour audio book which is narrated by Ray Porter.
Ray Porter does a fantastic job narrating this book, but I found myself losing interest in the story and found that I didn't really care about the characters especially as they are just variants of the main character and are flat and uninteresting.
Don't get me wrong, the author had a very clever idea for this book which to me looked like it had a lot of potential. Unfortunately, to me at least, the author took all of that potential and turned it into the most boring book i've ever listened to.
I liked the fact that the author had worked quite a few star trek references into the story, but even that didn't make this book interesting to me.
I returned it to Audible for a refund of the credit I had used it to buy it.
Overall : 1/5
Story : 1 / 5
Performance : 5/5
