Historia
The Wheel of Time turns and Ages come and go, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth returns again. In the Third Age, an Age of Prophecy, the World and Time themselves hang in the balance. What was, what will be, and what is, may yet fall under the Shadow.

Revisado: 01-28-22
some of the plot bones are still good but the authors obsession with western 50s patriarchal / cishet norms and his blatant sexism feel so overpowering in this book. every other line (no really) is a character decrying that the opposite sex will never be understood etc and it's clearly supposed to be funny/cutesy/flirty instead of the gagworthy and offensive. and my god the obsession with women's modesty and spanking women's bottoms and women being jealous over men. it's repulsive and also just totally incredulous, makes characters into 1D idiots.

Historia
Kaylin wasn’t sent to the West March to start a war. Her mission to bring back nine Barrani might do just that, though. She traveled with a Dragon, and her presence is perceived as an act of aggression in the extremely hostile world of Barrani-Dragon politics. Internal Barrani politics are no less deadly, and Kaylin has managed - barely - to help the rescued Barrani evade both death and captivity at the hands of the Consort.

Didn't feel like a full novel
Revisado: 02-13-19
As the series progresses it feels like there's less content in each book. Still will scratch the itch if you want to keep following this campy but badly written saga because of your difficult to explain investment in the main character and desparate hope for sexy romance that will probably never happen ...

Great overall conclusion to the series
Revisado: 02-03-19
Great overall conclusion to the series, I really couldn't put it down, but *MILD SPOILER* ...
I found the very end so disappointingly anti-climactic and hard to believe, after such emotional build up then quite a light conclusion. There was also still a sprinkling of moments throughout where the writing or contrivances quite distracted me and made me laugh or just try to forget the stupidity because I liked the story overall so much that I didn't want any reasons not to.

Historia
Now a Challenger, Jessamy is moving up the ranks of the Fives - the complex athletic contest favored by the lowliest Commoners and the loftiest Patrons alike. Pitted against far more formidable adversaries, success is Jes' only option, as her prize money is essential to keeping her hidden family alive. She leaps at the chance to tour the countryside and face more competitors, but then a fatal attack on her traveling party puts Jes at the center of the war that Lord Kalliarkos - the prince she still loves - is fighting against their country's enemies.

Very entertaining, better than book 1
Revisado: 02-02-19
Couldn't put it down, very entertaining and an improvement on the first book. Enjoyed the twists and turns. Still some too-cheesy moments or lazy moments of characters moving plot through unbelievable dialogue but solid fun and suspense on the whole.

Solid YA fantasy
Revisado: 01-31-19
Relatively straightforward plot, very YA, fun, compelling at times. Really enjoyed some of the world building but felt it needed more to really help me get a feel. Pace as a whole felt rushed, would have appreciated lingering on some moments, breathing a bit, getting more nuance.

A compelling, modern Russian fairytale
Revisado: 01-24-19
Loved it, couldn't stop, so well written, so evocative of a specific time and place, rich characters you want to love even if they frustrate you. If you're interested in Russian folklore and love a good story definitely start with the first book in the trilogy and be sure to get to the sequel!

The Merchant Houses who control this magic - the art of using coded commands to imbue everyday objects with sentience - have already used it to transform Tevanne into a vast, remorseless capitalist machine.

Solid fantasy, got better as the book progressed
Revisado: 01-07-19
Compelling main character. Decent job keeping a fun, exciting tone while still exploring serious, traumatic personal and social issues. Interesting fantasy element but often a bit hard to suspend disbelief with how it was written.
