Two great classics

I read these books when I was a teenager, but that was a long time ago. The excellent narration of these two literary classics was an absolute pleasure to listen to. Kevin Theis really took me back to that joy I felt upon my first discovery of H. G. Wells.

A reluctant paranormal investigator is hired to catch a vampire and a poltergeist.
The problem is that he doesn't actually believe in any of that paranormal stuff. But can be prove it's not real?

There's plenty of action, and more than a little humor here. Combined, that made listening to this book a whole lot of fun.

A brief tale

Less than an hour long, this clever story is entertaining and held my attention. The short length made it easy for me to fit in to my free time, which is also in short supply lately.

I noticed there are more in this series that I would enjoy listening to.

She wanted art lessons, but not the one she got.

Winning lessons at a prestigious art school seems like a dream come true for Annie. But then she realizes that the copies of old master works she was instructed to make are being sold as
valuable originals. Her instructor is making a lot of money from it and when police are called to investigate a murder at the art gallery, she looks like an art forger.

This was a pleasant, though predictable mystery. No racy stuff or bad language. The narration was good, too. This is the first book I've read by this author and I enjoyed it enough to look for more from her.

The story continues but . . .

There's still lots of action and the characters are complex, maybe too much so, lets go with complicated. The storyline got even wierder than it was in the first two books.The audiobook was enjoyable to listen to as long as I could ignore the numerous mispronounced words.
My biggest disappointment is that the end left me hanging. Again.

Even better than the first book.

Dawn spent her whole life working to become a pilot and she's eager to use those skills. But in her new job she's basically just a backup for the AI who actually does the flying. Her mission is to capture the man/dragon outlaw, Drogan. That's not gonna be easy.

Oh, and there's so much more going on in this, the second book in the series. Action and adventure, great characters, there's even an amorous physical relationship involving the ship's AI.

Longer than the first book but the end still came sooner than I wanted. The time listening to it just seemed to go by in a flash. I would certainly recommend picking up this series. I'm gonna start the third book right now.

Short, action packed, strong characters

Earth is polluted and ruined, Mars has been colonized, the Moon is being mined, the police have AI partners, and the corporate military is ruthless. Fast-paced and exciting, it left me wanting more. Good thing I've already got the second book.

Everyone has personal problems, even SIs.

There are now thousands of SIs, not just on Earth, but across the solar system. Theren and Jill have risen to political power, each in their own way. As they pursue their separate interests, a distance that is not merely physical develops between them.

As they've developed into influential citizens they experienced many of the same doubts and issues that humans have.

This is a good follow up to the previous book. It is interesting and enjoyable; but I admit that I liked the first book better. I am, however, curious to see what will happen to Theren and Jill in the next book.

I'm disappointed.

I was hoping for better. Having so thoroughly enjoyed the previous book I expected something on the same level. This book doesn't have the great laughs that had me gasping for breath with a stitch in my side like that. The narrators did a good job with what they had, but I don't feel that's enough to save this one.

Edgar Allan Poe does not need reviews. The narrator, however, still deserves one. Especially since the narration was so well done. My brain conjured up chilling visions of Vincent Price as I listened. But, maybe that's just me.
