Historia
On this episode, economist Steve Keen offers a deep forensic history of why modern economic theory has neglected the role of energy in productivity - and why this “Energy Blindness” is now a major blindspot in how our culture views the present - and the future. The massive, temporary carbon surplus we’ve extracted over the last few centuries has resulted in an exponential increase in the standard of living for many. This explosion of global economic growth also happened to coincide with the development of all modern economic theories and formulas, leading to a core misunderstanding in ...

When will the blind see?
Revisado: 02-29-24
The blindness that neoclassical economics has created for almost all of us, is destroying the viable future for all of us.<
>Steve does a terrific job of explaining how Adam Smith’s model has become the only one that for all practical purposes our societies follow.
He points out how energy has never been part of the modelling that these economist use.
The culture I grew up in as well as the masters degree I obtained in economics, simply do not address the crucial issues of our future, and do, in fact, do many fans that guarantee be destruction of human life on earth,

What is economics? How does the global economy work? What do different economic theories tell us about the world? Ha-Joon Chang explains how the global economy works and why anyone can understand the dismal science. Unlike many economists who claim there is only one way of 'doing economics', he introduces listeners to a wide range of economic theories, from classical to Keynesian, revealing how they all have their strengths, weaknesses and blind spots.

Historia
The viruses keep coming, the climate is warming, and the Earth is rewilding. Our human family has no playbook to address the mayhem unfolding around us. If there is a change to reckon with, argues the renowned economic and social theorist Jeremy Rifkin, it’s that we are beginning to realize that the human race never had dominion over the Earth and that nature is far more formidable than we thought, while our species seems much smaller and less significant in the bigger picture of life on Earth, undermining our long-cherished worldview.
