Historia
London, 1945: Four adolescent orphans with a dark wartime history are squatting in a vacant Belgravia mansion—the owners having fled London under heavy Luftwaffe bombing. Psychologist and Investigator Maisie Dobbs visits the mansion on behalf of the owners and discovers that a demobilized soldier, gravely ill and reeling from his experiences overseas, has taken shelter with the group.

Excellent story that let the readers say a fond farewell to the characters we have known for years of delightful reading. Good show, Maisie!

Historia
The next book in the perennially adored No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency series sees Precious Ramotswe calling upon all her maternal instincts when she's faced with a two-ton case. They say it takes a village to raise a child, but can Mma. Ramotswe and the rest of the No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency come together to raise a pipsqueak pachyderm? We may find out in this novel. We may not. Who can say?

How to Raise an Elephant: good story
Revisado: 01-09-21
I have been listening to Ladies Number 1 Detective Agency books since the first one. I love the the stories from Botswana by AM Smith, as I do all of his various collections. But I love the narrator Lisette Lecat more than any other narrator I've heard. This production was so disappointing. The screechy way she portrayed so many characters, like Charlie, was incredibly annoying. Please don't use her again!

Another enjoyable Banks novel from the superb Peter Robinson made even better by the talents of the narrator.

Historia
Business is slow at the No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency, so slow in fact that for the first time in her estimable career Precious Ramotswe has reluctantly agreed to take a holiday. The promise of a week of uninterrupted peace is short-lived, however, when she meets a young boy named Samuel, a troublemaker who is himself in some trouble. Once she learns more about Samuel's sad story, Mma Ramotswe feels compelled to step in and help him find his way out of a bad situation.

Always enjoyable
Revisado: 04-07-16
This Ladies' No. 1 Detective Agency book was slightly different from earlier ones as Mme. Ramotswe is "on holiday" for most of the book. Mma. Makutsi is in charge, and Mme. Ramotswe is rather doubtful of her abilities. As usual, the story is enjoyable and reminds the reader that kindness is a wonderful way to do business. Lisette Lecat is a superb narrator. I always get the audio version of this series because of her. Enjoy!
