Historia
In 1848 an English physician, Nathaniel Trennant, accepts an offer to serve as doctor on a ship carrying immigrants to America. When arriving in Baltimore, Trennant stumbles onto its slave market and witnesses the horrors of human bondage. One night in a boardinghouse he discovers under his bed a runaway slave. Disturbed and angered by the selling of human lives, he offers to help the young man escape, a criminal action that will put the fugitive slave and physician into flight from both the law and opportunistic slave hunters.

Historia
For decades, Dick Conant paddled the rivers of America, covering the Mississippi, Yellowstone, Ohio, Hudson, as well as innumerable smaller tributaries. These solo excursions were epic feats of planning, perseverance, and physical courage. At the same time, Conant collected people wherever he went, creating a vast network of friends and acquaintances who would forever remember this brilliant and charming man even after a single meeting.

Historia
Written to commemorate the Bicentennial in 1976, James A. Michener's magnificent saga of the West is an enthralling celebration of the frontier. Brimming with the glory of America's past, the story of Colorado - the Centennial State - is manifested through its people: Lame Beaver, the Arapaho chieftain and warrior, and his Comanche and Pawnee enemies; Levi Zendt, fleeing with his child bride from the Amish country; and the cowboy, Jim Lloyd, who falls in love with a wealthy and cultured Englishwoman, Charlotte Seccombe.

I am in awe of how Michener sees things. My image of the world is a lot fuller now.

Historia
Hear singer, songwriter, and actor Nick Jonas lend his voice to the history of one of his favorite subjects: baseball. This unique story is written specifically to help you drift off, with no clear beginning, middle, or end, so you don’t need to follow the details too closely. In it, you’ll hear Nick Jonas describe how Joe DiMaggio and Ted Williams reached legendary status, and how they shaped the three components of a perfect swin.

The perfect story
Revisado: 03-14-21
Having listened to this before, I knew my brother could still hear this as he lay sedated and dealing with pancreatic cancer. A competitive four sport athlete , former teacher and coach he would know the traits of all of his school age heroes. As the story played, I knew that he could see each swing, each grimace, each eye focused . He knew which pitcher would challenge the hitter and which batter would get caught napping. He knew where each hitter stood in the batters box and how each batter waved the ash bat before the pitch. He knew the form of each ferocious swing, he knew the depressing sounds of air whishing by and the instant sound of ball hitting leather on third strike. He knew the sound of cheers when ash meets stitches.
He once said that he could play baseball all day so it was the perfect story to hear before he passed away.
