Historia
Bob Odenkirk is a legend in the comedy-writing world, winning Emmys and acclaim for his work on Saturday Night Live, Mr. Show with Bob and David, and many other seminal television shows. This book, his first, is a spleen-bruisingly funny omnibus that ranges from absurdist monologues ("Martin Luther King Jr.'s Worst Speech Ever") to intentionally bad theater ("Hitler Dinner Party: A Play"), from avant-garde fiction ("Obit for the Creator of Mad Libs").

Historia
She used to work for the US government, but very few people ever knew that. An expert in her field, she was one of the darkest secrets of an agency so clandestine it doesn't even have a name. And when they decided she was a liability, they came for her without warning. Now she rarely stays in the same place or uses the same name for long. They've killed the only other person she trusted, but something she knows still poses a threat. They want her dead, and soon.

Good listen & entertaining
Revisado: 03-27-17
Give Stephanie Meyer a break from twilight - she does a good job here. This is a good book for a drive! I liked the characters and the plot is good enough to follow. Sure - some of it isn't plausible but for a fiction novel it's decent and has enough real life to make it enjoyable. Ellen archer did a great job narrating ! I'd listen to another Stephanie Meyer novel along these lines!

Historia
St. Louis in 1880 is full of ghosts - mangled soldiers, tortured slaves, the innocent victims of war - and Jacob Tracy can see them all. Ever since Antietam, when he lay delirious among the dead and dying, Trace has been haunted by the country's restless spirits. The curse cost him his family, his calling to the church, and damn near his sanity. He stays out of ghost-populated cities as much as possible these days, guiding wagon trains west with his pragmatic and skeptical partner, Boz.

First attempt - fair!
Revisado: 08-27-16
If this is the authors first major work - it's not horrible .
I was entertained and listened all the way through.
But the author tackled a lot of "adventures" with her character and it was too much.
I didn't dislike him but he hopped a lot. Also the narrator : had some really good moments then some really cheesy stereotypical tones/phrases.
But overall - it occupied me and I might listen to another

Historia
Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he's alive - and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. Chances are, though, he won't have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment, or plainold "human error" are much more likely to kill him first.

Good time all around
Revisado: 08-22-15
What made the experience of listening to The Martian the most enjoyable?
The narrator - really made the characters come out
What other book might you compare The Martian to and why?
I don't really read/listen to sci-action. This wasn't so technical as to lose a novice.
What does R. C. Bray bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
The inflection on Mark Wadney is great
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No - it did get a little dry in a few patches.
Any additional comments?
I enjoyed it all!

Historia
A village on the Devil's Moor: a place untouched by time and shrouded in superstition. There is the grand manor house whose occupants despise the villagers, the small pub whose regulars talk of revenants, the old mill no one dares to mention. This is where four young friends come of age-in an atmosphere thick with fear and suspicion. Their innocent games soon bring them face-to-face with the village's darkest secrets in this eerily dispassionate, astonishingly assured novel,

Bizarre
Revisado: 04-22-15
I am not sure what to call this tale- an anthology of a twisted town? The narration is good- although I'm not sure what the accent is supposed to be. But I expected a ghostly take and this had no ghosts- only scary "real people."

Historia
The Great Recession has shuffled Clay Jannon out of his life as a San Francisco Web-design drone - and serendipity, sheer curiosity, and the ability to climb a ladder like a monkey has landed him a new gig working the night shift at Mr. Penumbra’s 24-Hour Bookstore. But after just a few days on the job, Clay begins to realize that this store is even more curious than the name suggests. There are only a few customers, but they come in repeatedly and never seem to actually buy anything....
