Lots of helpful and validating information
Revisado: 12-17-24
There’s a lot of wisdom in this book and strategies that would have been useful during “reconciliation” in prep of the possibility of divorce. Even after filing, this information is great to have. There is also lots of healing advice which is another benefit.

I made more notes and had more profound realizations with this book than I have on the two year personal growth journey and more than 150 books. The author is intelligent and relatable. Her reading of this book was comical and entertaining in addition to personal. It didn’t feel like a lecture or a sermon. It felt like a conversation so much so that she would repeat things in eerie moments of attunement where I was running to my phone to pause and rewind to rehear. Her consideration and knowledge shined forth and made this book everything I needed in this moment. I weeped and grieved and released in addition to being seen and heard even though in my anguish I am completely alone. At worse this book will change the heartless, at most it’s hours of therapy where someone whose struggling and in pain can gain some insight and learning on the path to healing.

I am actually about to purchase the hard copy of this book to add to my physics library. It was insurmountable in the amount of insight it provided. Citing several scriptures and ways to see and perhaps combat personal growth roadblocks in yourself and others.

While endings are a natural part of business and life, we often experience them with a sense of hesitation, sadness, resignation, or regret. But consultant, psychologist, and bestselling author Dr. Henry Cloud sees endings differently. He argues that our personal and professional lives can only improve to the degree that we can see endings as a necessary and strategic step to something better.

Lots of wisdom
Revisado: 06-23-24
I took several clip notes of things he said that was really golden nuggets. This book gave me a lot of wisdom and confirmation in things I know but needed help to overcome. Letting go and grieving were areas I needed validation to which I obtained. Also Absolutely loved his interpretation on a wise, foolish and evil person. It was like a revelation on ideas that transpired simultaneously through this book and personally exploration of the Bible, into a complete understanding of a what fool and an evil person are. And confirmation that’s it’s okay to burn that bridge. I love his content. It’s easy to understand and read and feels like therapy.

I enjoyed these books, there was humor as well as lots of validating scenarios which normalize your abuse. Which allows you to realize you’re not alone, and these manipulators play by the same rule book.

Great book for people struggling with EA or Spiritual abuse!!
Revisado: 11-13-23
This book was everything I’ve been looking for. In my current season, spiritual abuse is rampant and amidst betrayal and emotional abuse. I’m an emotional mess. With a husband lacking true contrition and repentance for ten years of abuse. This book has given me a little confidence. To give grace and give an opportunity for restoration, however the confidence to know that is okay to walk away if change doesn’t occur and I’m not breaking my vows to God. I have shared this book with my husband. Not sure if it will help him on his spiritual journey, but at least my actions can be completely transparent and justified in our future. So worst case, by sharing it might make a smoother transition in separation or divorce. (Commitment to truth and reality) She shares a lot of wisdom and biblical guidance. PDFs are available online through a google search and her website has loads of content. Definitely recommend if you need help.

Historia
Trauma is a fact of life. Veterans and their families deal with the painful aftermath of combat; one in five Americans has been molested; one in four grew up with alcoholics; one in three couples have engaged in physical violence. Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, one of the world’s foremost experts on trauma, has spent more than three decades working with survivors. In The Body Keeps the Score, he uses recent scientific advances to show how trauma literally reshapes both body and brain, compromising sufferers’ capacities for pleasure, engagement, self-control, and trust.

Really enjoyed learning of all the ways trauma effects people and learning that sexual trauma isn’t as rare as one believed it to be and that there is a way of coping when it is prevalent.

Very insightful.
Revisado: 08-28-21
I throughly enjoyed this book. It was exactly what I was looking for: a book about the mental and emotional health and happiness of my infant. What not to do when you are trying to rear your baby. And parenting advice that is not only helpful but unbiased. It’s definitely a dad book (lots of dad humor), but the author did a very good job being inclusive and he is definitely on the mothers side of things which is refreshing. My husband will be the next to “read” this! Pop culture references aside, and the funny was he says “baby,” I loved this book and even though I just finished it, I’m about to listen to the whole thing again.
