Historia
A jaw-dropping story of how a girl from the suburbs ends up in a prince's harem and emerges from the secret Xanadu both richer and wiser. At 18, Jillian Lauren was an NYU theater school dropout with a tip about an upcoming audition. The "casting director" told her that a rich businessman would pay pretty girls $20,000 if they stayed for two weeks to spice up his parties. Soon, Jillian was on a plane to Borneo, where she would spend the next 18 months in the harem of Prince Jefri Bolkiah....

Couldn’t finish
Revisado: 01-02-22
I enjoyed reading about the harem in Borneo. That part of the story is unlike any other book I have read. However, the last few chapters seem to drag on and on. I couldn’t finish it.

Historia
The Blue Sweater is the inspiring story of a woman who left a career in international banking to spend her life on a quest to understand global poverty. It all started back home in Virginia, with the blue sweater, a gift that quickly became her prized possession - until the day she outgrew it and gave it away to Goodwill. Eleven years later in Africa, she spotted a young boy wearing that very sweater, with her name still on the tag inside.

Not for me
Revisado: 12-31-21
I admire the author’s journey and accomplishments. She also offered some wonderful insights. However, this book was extremely hard to follow with multiple names and side stories. I feel the story could have been simplified and it would have been easier to follow. I couldn’t finish it.

Historia
Rajiv Surendra was filming Mean Girls, playing the beloved rapping mathlete Kevin Gnapoor, when a cameraman insisted he read Yann Martel's Life of Pi. So begins his "lovely and human" (Jenny Lawson, author of Furiously Happy) tale of obsessively pursuing a dream, overcoming failure, and finding meaning in life.

Not for me

I thoroughly enjoyed the first few chapters in India. Then the story seems to go nowhere for the next few chapters. The ending might be good but I couldn’t finish it.
