the people saying it's LGBT must be trolling. he mentions that two guys are hot, but also mentions that dozens of other women are hot. that's it, just says that some people look good. no kissing, no hugging, no dating, zero sexuality in this book at all. it took two sentences for some people to write off the whole 17 hour book. 😂

a pretty good story.
Revisado: 08-01-24
I like the over all story, I think the author is trying to force a square peg into a round hole by placing a really really uncomfortable ... I guess you can call it a "romance", into a character that just isn't suited for it. I mean, honestly Reskin is your text book sociopathv who hasn't even had the opportunities most sociopaths have to mimic the social behavior of peers or parents. Having Reskin always say the exact right thing every time enough to have a women fall head over heels for him is pretty unbelievable. Especially when his own inner dialogue displays zero emotion.
If Kel Kade took some time to research sociopathy and really dug in his heels on character progression, this could have been an amazing fantasy story that shed light on the issue and the people who have it. Mainly that most of them aren't dangerous, and even if they can't feel empathy it doesn't mean they can't be a great person or a hero in a story. I think he really missed a good opportunity with the excruciatingly bad love interest story line.

When it comes to action and adventure, every hero needs a good sidekick. Holmes has Watson, Batman has Robin, and Daniel has . . . Orrin. More like brothers than friends, they always have each other's backs. And as Daniel is the big, strong, handsome type, Orrin is more than happy to remain in his shadow at school, at parties, pretty much everywhere. Then things take a turn for the truly weird when a terrible accident catapults the pair into a world totally unlike their own, in which the rules of a role-playing game hold sway.

Bros against the world.
Revisado: 07-15-24
I loved the spotlight on the relationship between best friends instead of the much over-used," guy finds perfect girl immediately and spends every second outside of major plot points trying to riz her up". Or the MUCH more gross harem concept where the author just imagined a world of big breasted women who love him for no reason.
I agree with everyone else though that making EVERY word that is even slightly related to an ability a robotic yell is insanely annoying.

Cringe Simp smith's son
Revisado: 01-20-23
I read all of the adept series before starting this one. I prayed and hoped that this mc (Mordecai) wouldn't be like his mc (William) from the other series. Unfortunately both characters are exactly alike.
I love the books usually, the progression, the magic systems, the plots. but the romance is sooo cringey in every book i could promise every book would be better if you just deleted every chapter involving a women.
The author has some weird fascination with manly bravado and cringe worthy situations where the mc finds himself oh so conveniently naked with a boner in front of a lady and oh he just doesn't want to be there at all, but all women are helpless over his sexual appeal. and I'm so manly and better than other men I find myself saving a woman from rape but they're unconscious and helpless so I'll just pepper in some details of how I have a boner looking at them naked, or pressed against my body for "warmth" with a boner. but I'm such a better dude than that dude I just wrote in trying to rape her because I'm going to write all my MC's so conveniently.
ugh, then the marrying your children MC's of when they're still 16. I get it, the author is very very gentlemanly and you should only ever fuck a woman that you've married or are planning to marry. it's ok if other people don't, you don't "judge" them. but you would neeeeveeer indulge in anything that would possibly insult a female!

what happened to mother of learning
- De Elena Foulkes en 01-28-21
As infuriatingly smug as mother of learning
Revisado: 12-05-22
I just can't finish it. it's another main character that goes around calling people stupid for not knowing as much as them. so incredibly disgustingly pleased with themselves they have to masturbate out of their mouths at anyone who will listen (the poor readers) about how they can extend a five second greeting into several hundred pages of scientific research. A main character that you just want to drown whenever they open their mouths.
Everyone deserves respect because everyone knows something you do not. I suspect the author has a superiority complex. Probably a touch of narcissism. being inside the head of someone like that for 17 chapters feels like I've been violated.
I get the point of the fan fiction is to try and see what it would be like to bring a grown ass person who's probably finished collegiate level science classes into a child's body and just shit on every illogical thing that happens to show up in a fantasy book that the author may or may not have enjoyed growing up. but the final product is just pure disgusting masturbatory smugness oozing in your ears.
what's with that chapter in Dumbledores office? none of that makes any sense at all. the author doesn't explain anything about why Harry is panicked. there's no reason for it. then that line of draco about raping a ten year old?? then the sorting hat part. oh God I kept hoping for this to get better but there's no hope.

This book had all the catharsis so desperately needed from books 3-6. I laughed out loud several times while literally sobbing at the end. Not even Harry Potter, GOT, or The Stormlight Archives have done that to me and I count those among my favorite books. Great job Travis!

bad recommendations.
Revisado: 04-22-22
I kept hearing this series was the best in litrpg so I decided to give it a shot. the first two books the story were fine. The mc is somehow totally fine with indefinitely being stranded in a hostile alternative dimension with no friends, no family, no idea what's going on. The story just picks up like it's clearly the author's wet dream and not an actual person as the mc, but I was fine with going along due to the great reviews.
Now by the third book even the story can't keep me reading. The blatant plot twisting to match the characters needs and not the other way around. The out dated views of the mc and his clear immaturity (cripple fight , real men eat red meat, how he gets angry at people for what he perceives as being stupid)
The way the author clearly wants to make sure the reader knows how not gay he is by constantly throwing in unnecessary leering at every female character (seriously every one, even the burned bloated mutilated corpse of the women who tortured and killed him gets a very mature "nice tits though" after he strips her dead body)
and ending every encounter with a male friend with a basic "no homo bro". ex: making the heaven forge, every single person in this world purportedly grew up with magic and this video game system, but the moment a spell requires two men to touch each other's HAND (seriously grow up) somehow everyone is making childish remarks and threatening to punch and headbutt one another. Makes me think the author is stuck in a middle school mindset.
