Historia
Nancy Kranich (played by Emmy-nominated actress Natasha Lyonne of Russian Doll and Orange Is the New Black) is a night nurse on an orbiting space station. But Nancy hates her job, is sick of space, and longs to find adventure and a safe place to smoke cigarettes that won’t blow everyone up. But when Nancy gets caught up in an outer-space conspiracy involving President Kennedy, former vice-president Richard Nixon, and an intergalactic object that could change the course of history, she gets way more adventure than she bargained for.

Tongue in Cheek and Witty AND Refreshing
Revisado: 08-03-22
What a ride. I’ve never heard anything like it. It clearly is meant to feel like pulp sci-fi. I mean, JFK is in his third term and wears an eyepatch. Nixon, space stations, conspiracies, American Cheese. For me the dry humor helped keep this story from becoming too absurd. It is fully aware of being absurd, and doesnt shy away, but also doesnt go too far. A tricky balance.
Look. This book could only be really good or really bad. Theres no way it could be in between. And I can happily say I really liked it. So give it a try. Its quirky and absurd and funny and dumb all in a way that makes it feel fresh.
Thanks Bill Oakley

Not Your Typical Romance... Come on It's Star Wars
Revisado: 08-06-18
For those of you who saw the credits roll for Return of the Jedi and thought, "BUT are Han and Leia are going to get married?" well, this is the book for you. This isn't your typical Romance, largely because its Star Wars. But it is a blast. Those seeking romance and those seeking action can both be pleased here (perhaps akin to a Gerard Butler RomCom).
But let's talk about the true draw to this book (in my opinion). This is no longer canon, for those concerned, but this story had much to do with influencing current canon. The Nightsisters of Dathomir had a long run on The Clone Wars and Rebels, and this is where that all started. And they are the reason I keep coming back to this book. A primitive society of ladies who use the force and ride rancors. What more could you ask for?
The biggest disappointment is the abridged story. It's a nice length, but I've read the book and I wish I could've heard the whole thing. For those unfamiliar with this story, I think it will feel completed and conclusive.
Story Quality: One can find much to enjoy here. Admitedly, it can be cheesy at points, and yet much of the novelty and fun makes up for it.
Audio Quality.: Fantastic. You couldn't ask for better.

Key Title in Zahns's Thrawn Omnibus
Revisado: 06-12-18
Outbound Flight is a Thrawn/Zahn fan's dream. We get to see how our favorite Sherlockian villain (hero?) became tied to the mysterious Outbound Flight. And it does not disappoint. At least for the uninitiated. As other fans have pointed out, much of the book is cut to fit the time limit. So for those who loved the intrigue with C'boath and the colonists, or the tension of whether Obi-wan and Anakin would be allured into leaving the Galaxy, or what happens to Car'das at the end, then you might be disappointed.
BUT for those who want all the Thrawn they can get, you cant possibly be disappointed. This recording does an excellent job of presenting and streamlining his story. So as long as you know this is "the movie version," you're good to go. And it honestly is as good as a movie. The performance is fantastic. The music and sound effects add to each scene. And even as an adapted script, the story feels satisfying.
But please, Audible, can you do Surviors Quest next?

Not sure this should be called a Star Wars book...
Revisado: 05-31-18
This is one of the instances where I'm glad Disney revised the official canon. You'd think this is a book about Anakin Skywalker. Not sure that's true. This book is populated with C-List characters. Anakin doesn't do much. Dooku and Asajj are essentially absent. Clone troopers? Nope. This story focuses more on local militia troops, generals and Jedi we've never heard of before (or since). And don't forget the rodian, bounty hunter Grudo...
The narration is overall very good. He reads with lots of variation and inflection. But he does mispronounce certain words. "Padme" for instance, or "lived." Not a big issue, but sorta disappointing.
So, if you just want to hear a Star Wars audiobook, go for it. If you're looking for a cool Anakin or Asajj story (as you may assume from the cover), this may not be want you're looking for.
