Historia
In the first book of this brilliant series, Stephen King introduces listeners to one of his most powerful creations: Roland of Gilead, The Last Gunslinger. He is a haunting figure, a loner on a spellbinding journey into good and evil. In his desolate world, which frighteningly mirrors our own, Roland tracks The Man in Black, encounters an enticing woman named Alice, and begins a friendship with the boy from New York named Jake.

My favorite series since I was about 8 years old!
Revisado: 04-28-22
My aunt gave me a copy of the 2nd book in the series when I was very young, 8 or maybe 10 and without even having read the first I was hooked. Went back for the first then waited in an agony of impatience for each successive book. Roland Deschain is the man that hides deep within the ancient, primal spirit of every man, that spirit which has never left behind itself the wilderness and struggle to maintain a bright light of civilization in a world where darkness always waits to swallow that light and snuff it forever. That he is the last of his breed but goes about his sworn mission with cold, unyielding ruthlessness is both crushingly sad and brilliantly hopeful. The man in black fled across the desert, and the gunslinger followed.... eternally.

A bit naive and outdated but not bad.

So I didn't realize how old this book was until I listened to it. He references websites that no longer exist and talks about the internet like it's still brand new. Also I'm not a big fan of the idea that passion is the number one thing needed to succeed in business, I'd have been much more impressed by someone educating readers to actual business principles and fundamentals.

Historia
The 59 provocative slogans presented here - each with a commentary by the Tibetan meditation master Chgyam Trungpa - have been used by Tibetan Buddhists for eight centuries to help meditation students remember and focus on important principles and practices of mind training. They emphasize meeting the ordinary situations of life with intelligence and compassion under all circumstances. Slogans include, "Don't be swayed by external circumstances," "Be grateful to everyone," and "Always maintain only a joyful mind."

Historia
Current Western society would lead us to believe that acquiring financial wealth would be the answer to all of our problems. Or would it? In this thought-provoking program, author and Eastern philosopher Laurence Boldt takes you on a journey to uncover what your belief system is and just how much your life is being dictated by a misdirected desire to gain peace of mind through acquiring material wealth.

Excellent book I'm grateful for.
Revisado: 07-20-20
I've been struggling through some extremely difficult personal issues recently, I am diagnosed with Complex PTSD, Bi-polar disorder and past substance use rearing its ugly face again. I have long been a practicing Buddhist but Taoism was my first love among Eastern spiritual practices and this was the first book I've "read" from that genre in quite a while. I can honestly say it renewed my perspective and gratitude for all the positivity and even the struggles I've been through recently. So glad I downloaded the app!
