Historia
Mead House was once our childhood home. Despite my fears, I always knew we would have to return to face the demons of our past. Back to the place where it happened, to where, as carefree teenagers, we lost our elder sister in the most brutal of circumstances. As executors of our grandmother’s will, my twin brother, Ollie, and I needed to empty the house for resale. What I didn’t expect to discover was my sister’s secret journal that contained her most private thoughts and shocking dark secrets.

Enjoyable story with okay narration
Revisado: 01-03-25
This mystery has lots of twists and turns. Beware of some dark subject matter. The narration is the weakest part of the story. It felt too slow, passionless at times, and a bit monotone.
I wouldn’t recommend the listen, but I did finish it.

Historia
Charlie Reade looks like a regular high school kid, great at baseball and football, a decent student. But he carries a heavy load. His mom was killed in a horrific accident when he was seven, and grief drove his dad to drink. Charlie learned how to take care of himself—and his dad. When Charlie is seventeen, he meets a dog named Radar and her aging master, Howard Bowditch, a recluse in a big house at the top of a big hill, with a locked shed in the backyard. Sometimes strange sounds emerge from that shed.

The fun of Stephen King without the horror or gore.
Revisado: 10-03-24
This Stephen King book, like so many others, builds an amazing world filled with characters, mystery, and adventure without needing the concentration to understand a new language or landscape.
The reading is fabulous.
Would absolutely recommend.

They were just friends. Best friends. They spent entire summers sitting on Shiloh’s porch steps, dreaming about the future. They promised each other that, no matter what, their friendship would never change. Well, Shiloh did go to college, and Cary did join the Navy. And yet, somehow, everything changed.

A lovely story about old friends

A refreshing change from a bodice ripping romance novel or a murder mystery. Great voice performance.

Historia
For much of her life, Sally Holt has been mystified by the things her older sister, Kathy, seems to have been born knowing. Kathy has answers for all of Sally’s questions about life, about love, and about Billy Barnes, a rising senior and local basketball star who mans the concession stand at the town pool. The girls have been fascinated by Billy ever since he jumped off the roof in elementary school, but Billy has never shown much interest in them until the summer before Sally begins eighth grade.

A great listen and a nice departure from the typical beach read or murder mystery
Revisado: 09-18-24
An interesting plot. The narrator was generally great but some of her voices for male character were distracting.

Historia
A bad best man’s speech can ruin a wedding. Why do we plan every detail of a perfect day and then give the groom’s idiot best friend five minutes of total power? Enter Nate (Glen Powell), a speechwriter-for-hire who helps people write incredible best man speeches. To keep the best man from embarrassing himself (and the newlyweds), Nate uses his list of don’ts: Don’t mention the exes, don’t be rated R, and don’t bum everyone out. Nate’s system never fails. That is, until he meets Dan (Nicholas Braun).

4 hours of a fun listen with great voices, fun cameos, and a light (even silly at times) plot.

Heavy but Enjoyable
Revisado: 07-08-24
Life is complicated and hard for everyone, even more so when you are a naive girl who signs up for Vietnam. This story was compelling, heart breaking, and made me deeply appreciate the power of having your voice being heard and deep friendships.

Historia
After Lucy is found wandering the streets, covered in her best friend Savvy’s blood, everyone thinks she is a murderer. Lucy and Savvy were the golden girls of their small Texas town: pretty, smart, and enviable. Lucy married a dream guy with a big ring and an even bigger new home. Savvy was the social butterfly loved by all, and if you believe the rumors, especially popular with the men in town. It’s been years since that horrible night, a night Lucy can’t remember anything about, and she has since moved to LA and started a new life.
