This was a well written book, full of lilting and lovely words. The story was that of an entitled and ungrateful woman. One who despite being loved, turns on a dime and betrays those who love her.
It grated on my nerves and while the writing was good, the story was not my cup of tea or coffee.

I usually like Grady Hendrix, this was dull and I think had it built up it would be a good story.

I am the kind of person who listens to Jazmine Sullivan on occasion. Listening to this “Art of Confessing” was eye opening. Jazmine speaks to her creative processes, inspiration, and how she became who she is as an artist. As a result, I want to listen to her entire discography. This was like a conversation with her and I enjoyed it. It was the soundtrack to some cleaning I was doing. Her voice is so melodiously gentle and I appreciated what she had to say.

This is a rambling story about art, regrets, and sorrow. It is also a total love letter to New York City; I’ve never been but the author loves it there. I think that it will make some turn and look inside themselves, some will say it has no meaning, and some will be afraid of the meaning. It is okay but I wouldn’t listen again.

It is a hard luck story about a beach bum who loves to surf on the shores of the east coast. I will go cross country to hear Ed Harris read a phone book from 1979. His narration kept me listening, it was okay.

This was good for a distraction while I was cleaning. It reminded me of the old time radio dramas, we acted and interesting. It is a good story.

This was presented in a very engaging way but there were moments where is was a bit slow and a bit much. Melodrama by all means but it just was a touch much a times. There’s nothing uniquely original here, but it was entertaining for cleaning my kitchen on a Sunday.

When you listen to a book like this you don’t know what to expect. I started and stopped this book three different times, this time I listened to it while I walked everyday and cleaned house. It starts slow and you think you know what the story is. It is what Stephen King does best, take something mundane and make it terrifying. You think you know what will happen with Terry and the murder investigation but it changes, turns sideways and just when you get you feet, it turns again. The characters are fleshed out and you end up caring about them, Holly especially endeared herself to me. Ralph Anderson, who has the same name as a character in “Storm of the century”, though in that television miniseries is a small child and the son of a police officer, is trying to do the right thing. This novel is hopeful, tragic, chilling, and great. It reminded me why I started reading King back in my early teens, when my brother bought me his anthologies for my birthday gift. It is great storytelling. And the voice of Will Patton, who is one of my favorite narrators, could add life to the phone book, to this he makes absolute magic. I will listen to it again. Highly recommend.

I listen to this just this morning and I can't tell you how harrowing it is to hear. The women of Juarez are being victimized on the city streets in an alarming way and no one seems to notice or care, except for the people who loved them. In a jump cut way, the story is unfolded and it leads you to this truth that is undeniable. Women are not safe. Not only in Juarez but anywhere, especially women of color, with the exception of loved ones, we go unnoticed when we go missing. The things that are described are horrible to hear but it is necessary they be heard. I understand now why my parents were always so vigilant that I tell them where I was going and when I would be home and also that I know how to defend myself if necessary.

Stay safe! Don't be afraid to say something, you matter, you have value and no one has the right to harm you.
