Unique story
Revisado: 05-05-25
I really liked the story. Narration was good but character voices often ran together and it was a little difficult to follow who was speaking at times. Still, I’d probably purchase the sequel

Super Fun Trilogy
Revisado: 03-12-25
Crazy concept I wasn’t sure would work, but it did. Great story, lots of humor, and the narrator made every single character come to life (one of the best I’ve heard). Just be aware, this is definitely not one to listen to with little ones.

Historia
There's a saying in Barstow, California, a decaying city in the scorching Mojave desert . . . The Interstate here only goes in one direction: Away. But it's the only place where ex-LAPD detective Beth McDade, after a staggering fall from grace, could get another badge . . . and a shot at redemption. Over a century ago, and just a few miles further into the bleak landscape, a desperate stranger ended up in Calico, a struggling mining town, also hoping for a second chance.

Not your average mystery
Revisado: 05-01-24
Unique mystery and really good story. Would do fine as a stand-alone novel, but also a perfect set-up for a sequel. I hope there’s one coming.

Historia
Gretch Wolgast is a bit of a dud. Just ask her. She’s a 21-year-old college dropout who has a loser job at the mall. Sure, she can lift a tennis ball with her telekinetic powers. But only three feet in the air. And she has to be sitting. Gretch is an OP, one of thousands born in Orlando, Florida, in the early 1980s who mysteriously developed the ability to move things with their minds. Unfortunately, she turned out to be the weakest of the bunch. Now, Gretch’s life is being turned upside down. She witnesses a murder and discovers a wide-ranging conspiracy.

Original story line and EXCELLENT narration. First audiobook in a long time where I found myself excited to run a menial errand just so I could have a few minutes in the car.

Historia
At first, it looks like a disease. An epidemic that spreads through no known means, driving its victims mad with memories of a life they never lived. But the force that’s sweeping the world is no pathogen. It’s just the first shock wave, unleashed by a stunning discovery - and what’s in jeopardy is not our minds but the very fabric of time itself. In New York City, Detective Barry Sutton is closing in on the truth - and in a remote laboratory, neuroscientist Helena Smith is unaware that she alone holds the key to this mystery...and the tools for fighting back.

Best I’ve listened to in a long time. Highly recommend for anyone that enjoys intelligently written novels. The narrators did a great job, as well.

Historia
On an otherwise normal morning, former Special Forces operative Sam Dryden is the target of an unsuccessful attempted abduction. Using his attacker's cell phone, he learns that another person, a woman named Danica Ellis, is also being targeted. Dryden arrives just in time to save Danica from the assault team sent after her. But neither of them recognizes the other or has any idea why they are being targeted. The only clue is a heavily redacted, official-looking document given to Danica by her stepfather before he was killed.

A Narrator can make or break
Revisado: 06-01-19
I’m only about a third of the way through this audio book. I’m going to muscle through because I really liked the two prior Sam Dryden novels. However, knowing how important a narrator is to an audio book, I can’t for the life of me understand how an author, editor, or whomever is responsible for the audio recording, can allow a story of this genre to be read by someone who continuously sounds like he’s reading a Judy Blume book to a kindergarten class. Hard to get a feel for what the author was really trying to convey. Disappointing.

Historia
Sam Dryden lives quietly in a small coastal town in Southern California, buying and fixing up old houses. It's good physical work that he's come to love. But his peaceful life is shattered when he gets a phone call from an old friend in trouble. A phone call that pulls Dryden into the middle of a situation that's as violent as it is baffling.

Love a good book that makes you think
Revisado: 07-15-15
Definitely need to give Patrick Lee credit for taking a topic that's almost impossible to wrap your head around and make a great story out of it.
