As always Stuart McBride tells a riveting, grim, twisty and bleakly funny story. Excellent performance from both readers.

Wonderfully written and beautifully performed. A clever, gripping and very funny story of sidelined spies.

An intriguing, perceptive and very well written police procedural and if you have a dry sense of humour, it is often very, very funny.

The reader does a great job bringing the drama and humour to life, except for one little thing. He can't have watched much British crime TV, the acronym for Scene of Crime Officers (SOCO) is pronounced sock-oh not ess-oh-see-oh.

What made the experience of listening to Reamde the most enjoyable?

It's astonishing that Neal Stephenson can so wonderfully orchestrate a story of this size and depth and keep your interest the whole way. The narration was excellent, no small achievement given the number of character.

What did you like best about this story?

The satisfying intersection of so many different stories and so many different and believable characters.

Which character – as performed by Malcolm Hillgartner – was your favorite?

They were all excellent and fascinating in their own way. The Abdullah Jones character's voice sounded suspiciously like Richard Burton - not a realistic Welsh accent but a great voice.

Any additional comments?

Kudos to the narrator for successfully pronouncing the Welsh place name Aberystwyth - a name that defeats many English speakers.

Wonderful Norwegian serial killer thriller.

Total
5 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 11-18-10

The usual suspects: a flawed policeman, a devilishly clever serial killer and more twists and turns than you could shake a stick at. The setting is Oslo, the writing is superb, the story gripping, and the narration by Sean Barrett is excellent. If you enjoy the Wallander books, set in neighbouring Sweden you will probably love this too.
