Listened for years to Scott's podcast. His writing draws you in. I waited for this book for YEARS. DID NOT DISAPPOINT. He manages to create complex characters in impossible situations that you always grow to care about and want to know more. You're there in the ship with them. His descriptive abilities are the best. Thanks Scott (& the ever present A meeting you on point) for another amazing story. Can't wait to listen to the next chapter!!! Ray Porter did a great job. Miss Scott's voice but want to read more of his stories than beg for him to record them. Thanks Ray for doing it right!

love Severn Handred's back story.

Great characters, wonderful character beginnings. It's all that I wanted to know about Severn, not a moment of disappointment. Each and every moment. I loved An'Telleris' character and personality. Now I'm going to listen to Kaylin's entire series again with new insights, new ears. Can't wait. I've listened at least twice.
Michele's story telling is always a pleasure and the relationships she creates are wonderful bonds.
The more I listen the more I finally start to understand the Burani race and why their immortality creates their isolation. Their childhood relationships inform so much of their adult behaviors and her latest books help bring that to life.
Another great addition to world of Elantra stories.

as always Lowell's characters are REAL people by the end of the story. I enjoyed every moment and can't wait to listen again in a few months. lived every minute and the voice was perfect for Joseph.

Mr. Lowell never disappoints!

the story of Ishmael Wong has enchanted me and made me smile since the first listen about a decade ago. His story was the first I ever bothered to listen to more than once. this is my third go round with the addition of this new story. he is my friend, my favorite self deprecating captain, the kind of person I want to be. I look forward to listening all over again when his next story comes out.

just listened for a second time. loved it all over again. great characters, great story, cool world building. short, so if it's not for you, you can move on, but I found it addictive and have listened to the whole series twice!

love Philippa Ballantine's work!!!!

I first discovered this amazing woman's work free when I was a poor single mom. Her stories transport me, her voice is like velvet to my soul. I love her characters and can't wait to find out what will happen next. I highly recommend all her stories and love the ones co-authored with Tee Morris. At first I could only find those to purchase, I was thrilled to find all her work here at audible.

excellent characters, cool concept, fun fun fun. I want to stay in Gertrude Hunt!! I can't wait to learn more about SN. I want to read about Helen growing up and Oro's next meal. I'm convinced Dina will be an Ad Hal soon.

the story becomes more interesting and complex

I feel as though I started out loving Ishmael's story for its own sake and now the universe it is unfolding in is so fascinating I want more of it. It's as though we are still growing up with him. What he knew at the beginning, we knew. Now it is a fascinating universe full of even more wonderful characters and complexities. Hard to believe An author can be so awesome are first book but keep getting better. Thank you Sar!

another great story from Nathan Lowell

Although I miss his voice, it is a small price to pay on order to get more stories from Mr. Lowell. Ishmael, Pip, Alice, Cookie, Al are here and as usual a great sense of humor with easy to relate to references and a story I look forward to listening to repeatedly. I have never been on any ship, clearly I have never flown in space, but after hearing Ishmael's tale 3 times new and discovering this book on audible I feel like I have and want to fly more. I always feel so good while listening and can't wait to get to the next part of the story. Mr. Lowell's works are the first stories I have listened to more than once. I have broadened that to other authors but it was his stories that made me so sad I was done, I had to do it all over again, and now again. I've been listening a decade now. So worth every dime and moment. Buy this book, savour it and listen again!
