Actionable info about ChatGPT
Revisado: 09-15-23
I stumbled upon this podcast by accident while searching for an audiobook on ChatGPT. The blend of expert and everyday experience allowed me, as a beginner in the field, to jump into the conversation as if I were a participant. The humorous response to the Vice article was worthwhile.

Inspiring
Revisado: 06-05-23
Rich in detail, both external and internal to the point of view character, this novel wastes little time telling why we should care about this world, preferring to immerse us in it and let us draw our own conclusions.

But Nancy hates her job, is sick of space, and longs to find adventure and a safe place to smoke cigarettes that won’t blow everyone up. But when Nancy gets caught up in an outer-space conspiracy involving President Kennedy, former vice-president Richard Nixon, and an intergalactic object that could change the course of history, she gets way more adventure than she bargained for.

A side-splitting jaunt into a speculative thrill ride that takes historical figures and warps them like Picasso! I can definitely sense the connection with The Simpson and Futurama.

Historia
When COVID-19 sweeps through New York City, Jamie Gray is stuck as a dead-end driver for food-delivery apps. That is, until Jamie makes a delivery to an old acquaintance, Tom, who works at what he calls “an animal rights organization”. Tom’s team needs a last-minute grunt to handle things on their next field visit. Jamie, eager to do anything, immediately signs on. What Tom doesn't tell Jamie is that the animals his team cares for are not here on Earth. Not our Earth, at at least. In an alternate dimension, dinosaur-like creatures named Kaiju roam a warm and human-free world.

I wanted to like this…
Revisado: 08-06-22
The premise is pretty unoriginal. That said, it could work if it had something other than camp fueling the plot, but it just doesn’t. To be fair, I’ve had not made it about halfway through, but not even one of my favorite nerd commentators can salvage a story told using a narrator disguised as a character. I wish I could get my credit back.

Historia
A revolution brewing for generations has begun in fire. It will end in blood. The Free Navy - a violent group of Belters in black-market military ships - has crippled the Earth and begun a campaign of piracy and violence among the outer planets. The colony ships heading for the thousand new worlds on the far side of the alien ring gates are easy prey, and no single navy remains strong enough to protect them. James Holden and his crew know the strengths and weaknesses of this new force better than anyone.

I thought the best had already come…
Revisado: 04-12-22
But with Babylon’s Ashes, we are treated to a wealth of character exploration going far beyond the crew of the Rocinante and her enemies. We taste the full flavor of Belter culture in all its subtle variations. We get to dive deeper into the relatively hard science of the setting. We are left with alluring clues about unknowable entities and forces which should stay in play in future novels of the series. Finally, we gain insight into how the story stood before it was adapted to the small screen that makes the series seem like a well-meaning abridged version, rather than the stories given a richer treatment with audiovisual effects. I couldn’t stop listening.

Historia
In a world devastated by nuclear war with humanity on the edge of extinction, aliens finally make contact. They rescue those humans they can, keeping most survivors in suspended animation while the aliens begin the slow process of rehabilitating the planet. When Lilith Iyapo is "awakened", she finds that she has been chosen to revive her fellow humans in small groups by first preparing them to meet the utterly terrifying aliens, then training them to survive on the wilderness that the planet has become. But the aliens cannot help humanity without altering it forever.

Amazingly beautiful and strange
Revisado: 05-31-18
The voice performance was agile and immersive. The story was way ahead of its time, but focused more upon the bizarre sexuality than I felt was necessary to drive the story.

A bold reading of the basis for Western literature
Revisado: 03-18-18
As was surely the intent of its composers, this poetic telling of the struggle of bodies and hearts and minds for the sacred city of Troy weaves together threads of myth, history, and human drama to form a living tapestry in the imagination of the listener.

Historia
Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

Historia
In A World of Three Zeros, Yunus describes the new civilization emerging from the economic experiments his work has helped to inspire. He explains how global companies like McCain, Renault, Essilor, and Danone got involved with this new economic model through their own social action groups, describes the ingenious new financial tools now funding social businesses, and sketches the legal and regulatory changes needed to jumpstart the next wave of socially driven innovations.

An intriguing vision of the future
Revisado: 12-04-17
This book has opened up a realm of possibility for me as a student of progressive change. It not only introduced the concept of the social business, a self-sustaining not for profit entity devoted to promoting the common good in some capacity, but also to the efforts which the United Nations has made so far in defining and solving the world's most pressing problems.
