At their final campsite, searchers found a bizarre scene: something had appeared at the door of their tent so terrifying that it impelled them to slash their way out and flee barefoot to certain death in a blizzard. Despite a diligent search, only six bodies were found, two violently crushed and inexplicably missing their eyes. The case, given the code name “Dead Mountain” by the FBI, was never solved. Now, two more bodies from the lost expedition are unexpectedly discovered in a cave.

Rene Auberjonois was a treasure, a wonderful tv actor and a superb voice actor that brought AXL Pendergast to life…he also did right by Constance Green…and the entire world of Pendergast novel characters. This latest book, while I enjoyed the story line, the narrator was not doing Pendergast or Constance any justice. Pendergast came off as limp and unsure and not the witty, high-brow strategist we love and Constance came off as shrill and imperious instead of knowledgeable, self assured and fierce. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE find some one who can help these characters “live” again.

I really enjoyed this book, these lessons can be applied to your personal life as well as your professional life. You laugh out loud, and at the same time think, “Oh SH-T, could this be me, is this how I might be behaving?”. It’s a fun way to examine your life and maybe “recalibrate” your emotional intelligence...and get a few great drink recipes in the process!

You do realize you have some female readers like me who have read and or listened to this entire series...it would have been nice if the strong female characters were not beaten or executed when they were in the prime of their lives or careers.

The story was ok, the president's daughter was a little far fetched...and what the main character put up with from her was on the verge of unbelievable. What I found to be annoying was the additional sound effects added...crowd noises, phones ringing, driving in a car-doors slamming, very distracting and took away from the intensity of Scott Brick's performance (which is always stellar!)
