Historia
The White Tree (book one): In Mallon the dark magic of the nether has been banned for centuries. Its users have been driven out or killed. Its secrets lost. But the holy book of the nethermancers has just been found by a boy named Dante. As he works to unlock the book's power, he's attacked in the street. The nethermancers aren't gone—and they want their book back. Caught between death cultists and the law, Dante fights for his life, aided by his growing skills and a brash bodyguard named Blays.

Wordy

Loved the descriptions. But they didn’t really describe anything. Story line impossible for me to follow. Spectacular reader. Would listen to him even if the story were worthless. It really bothers me when an author doesn’t even get subjective and objective pronouns in the right place

Emoting
Revisado: 03-20-24
If you enjoy hearing your mayor reading the Sunday comics you might enjoy Mr Bricks reading novels. I don’t. He has a good voice and would be successful if he would just read. Dripping emotion ruins the story.

Historia
Despite his youth, Declan Idrys knows of the evils of the world. He knows of the bastards and brigands who plague the King's lands, of the monsters skulking in the wooded depths of the realm. Together with his companion, Ryn - a beast of rather peculiar talent - he has spent the last decade of his life beneath the bloody banners of a half-dozen mercenary guilds, hunting precisely such festering wickedness within the borders of Viridian.

How about that grammar
Revisado: 01-14-24
These are three direct quotes:” nudge he and Ester”; between he and Decklin”, “it was him”. These are only 3 examples of literally a hundred similar ones in the book. I’ve heard/seen problems about when to use who and whom but can’t understand how someone could write a book not having the slightest idea of when to use she/her. He/him. I/me. The story is ok but to write a novel one should at least have a. It if knowledge about grammar. At least one should know he doesn’t know grammar and get an educated person to proofread the manuscript. Love the reader. I think he read sea books. Don’t know how he could read this with out correcting the grammar

Cabinet maker
Revisado: 01-02-24
I was entertained by the story. Imagine looking a piece of furniture from across the room and liking its appearance but getting closer you see the edges don’t come together and the finish is rough. In this instance the cabinet maker is the author and language is the tool. I am so turned off when the author doesn’t know when to use subjective and objective pronouns. I’ve been an avid reader for 70 years and I find better English in a 1930 western than I did in this novel. Bring back the proof reader or take an English grammar class

Historia
At Omicron 9, Professor Ludendorff unearthed artifacts of the fabled Old Ones. During a meeting in a subterranean chamber, a portal appeared and aliens attacked, perhaps to kidnap the professor or grab the artifacts. Maddox’s new intuitive sense gave him just enough warning. He saved Ludendorff and rushed into the portal to forestall any more assaults - and thus began his lonely odyssey from one strange place to another. Maddox eventually found a Builder potential unit, and they resolved to work together. But the unit betrayed him and then Victory.

His code name is Nostradamus, and he’s an ancient alien super-intelligence awakened by pesky humans crawling upon his planet. He decides to use these low-grade morons, testing some, making the special ones his agents and sending them into Star Watch to make the military organization his own. It’s an insidious assault from within, run by a creature with fantastic predictive powers against what he considers an infantile species.

Opera
Revisado: 12-02-23
I’ve read reviews that call this series a space opera. I have to call it a soap opera. Stories go no real change in plot. New characters have different names but in reality have the same roles

Soap opera
Revisado: 09-09-23
Don’t know if the author really had any knowledge of where he was going, but as a reader I surely didn’t. I felt I could enter the story at any spot and not really need to know what went before or came after and not be any more confused than if I read the whole thing. If the author does another series I would recommend trying one with one main thread, make the characters lovable or hateful, have a defined beginning and end. Then start to be more creative as future works develop. I feel this first effort was very disjointed

Disappointed
Revisado: 08-30-23
If I wanted a trashy sex novel I would buy one that made its contents clear. I was interested in something that had a little historical content. Disappointed in that. Mr hill has a pleasant voice and enunciates well. He drips with so much emoting he ruins everything he reads for me. I like Cussler, but content myself with reading only because of the narrator. I like WEB Griffin but am content with reading only for the same reason I tolerated the River God, quite liked the Seventh Scroll, but am very unlikely to read anything else by Mr. Smith.

Verbose
Revisado: 08-02-23
Never say in a page what you can give a chapter to. In one of the vignettes in Doug Adam’s Hitchhiker’s Guide, a writer brags about getting an award for the most gratuitous use of the word “fuck”. I’m sure Stavely would give him a run for that award. If either of these two things would strike your fancy, you’ll enjoy this book more than I did.
