Probably this book should have been advertised with a BIG warning: just for professional mathematicians or physics. While I have followed and understand, in large part, the other books of Sean Carroll, just with a lot of concentration, this one was FULL of concepts which are obscure as black magic as long as you have NOT a quite solid background in physics and/or mathematics. nothing bad and, as far as I can understand, this work is outstanding as well (like everything from Sean Carroll), just be aware that this is NOT for everyone.

if this was intended as a comical book ok. If it wasn't I wouldn't even know how to start: the characters are not believable in the least, the plot is a farce with so mani inconsistencies that is impossible to enumerate them all. and the narrator seems to be a comical imitation of a "I'm a tough badass American military guy" no matter what part he's reading (narrator, male characters old, young, military, civilians, female... all the same). I struggled A LOT to finish it and definitely I'm NEVER going to buy another book from this guy

A novel completely ruined by the narrator

The story is pure Clancy at his best. I've been listening all the novels in the series, which I read on paper many years ago. Unfortunately this one is absolutely ruined by the narrator. perhaps the worst performance I have ever listened. should this had been my first audiobook I honestly wouldn't know if had ever subscribed to Audible. And yes, is that bad. especially considering that the previous book in the series was read by Scott Brick. the paragon is simply devastating

Helpful notwithstanding the reader

although surely I've read more interesting and better written books on the same subject (Peter Saccio's first of all), the book still remains an helpful and pleasant reading. The key word here being "reading" as opposed to "listening", since this audiobook is honestly destroyed by the narrator. at first I had to check that it was an actual HUMAN reader , since I was under the impression that the book was being read by a computerised voice so choppy the lecture was. ..

marvellous as always: the only thing that I would probably have performed differently is the scene of Tisby's death. it should be less comic. the movie version by Michael Hoffman is exemplary in this sense

a good book. an horrible interpretation.

I loved this book when I read it many years ago, and I still love the story. I had to give up listening and start reading on kindle after a few hours though, since the narrator was simply destroying the book with a farcical interpretation and voices utterly ridiculous.
