Historia
1970s, Southern Alabama. Sixty-two-year-old Jeremiah Lewis Taylor, or “Nub,” has spent his whole life listening to those he loves tell him he’s no good—first his ex-wife, now his always-disapproving daughter. Sure, his escapades have made him, along with his cousin and perennial sidekick, Benny, just a smidge too familiar with small-town law enforcement, but he’s never harmed anyone—except perhaps himself.

I Loved This Book
Revisado: 09-13-24
It had me laughing one minute, freaking out at times, and then all teary eyed, throughout the listening. I love when the author narrates, it seems more real.
Thank you Sean Dietrich! I will definitely be reading more of your books.

Martha was a strong lady
Revisado: 09-03-24
We recently visited Mount Vernon for the first time so I became intrigued with George and Martha. I loved reading about their love for each other and their devotion to the cause of the United States of America. Their first love was that of Jesus Christ and serving Him. They went through so much and never lost their faith.

Historia
Once Leota's garden was a place of beauty - where flowers bloomed and hope thrived. It was her refuge from the deep wounds inflicted by a devastating war, her sanctuary where she knelt before a loving God and prayed for the children who couldn't understand her silent sacrifices. At 83, Leota is alone; her beloved garden is in ruins. All her efforts to reconcile with her adult children have been fruitless. She voices her despair to a loving Father, her only friend. And God brings a wind of change through unlikely means....

Sometimes frustrating.
Revisado: 06-12-24
The narrator became more irritating for me from the middle to the end. My frustration was with Leota and her kids. Why none of them would talk about their anger and resentment that went on for years, I do not understand. Leota was so mean and sarcastic to Corbin when they met, I can’t figure out why he would ever darken her door again. And as sweet as Annie was, I find it very hard to believe that she could be such a mature Christian at the age of 18, and so able young take care of her gramma and her garden so perfectly.
But, I listened to the end so there were some very good things that happened throughout.

Didn’t want it to end 😕
Revisado: 11-21-23
This would make an awesome movie! I love how Charles Martin’s male characters are good, masculine, cool, tough, and respectful. How all men should be. I probably say this about all of his books right after I read them, but this is definitely one of my favorites! Thank you Charles :)
