Historia
Known for providing incisive progressive political analysis without being dogmatic, popular radio and podcast host David Pakman delves into the vicious cycle of reactionary political ideology. It's no secret how the right-wing has benefited and capitalized off disinformation and polarization of US politics. Critical thinking and media literacy are on a rapid decline, and our republic is unable to agree upon a shared set of facts. Pakman challenges the right-wing head-on and encourages listeners to understand how the status quo became the status quo.

Scalzi and Wheaton are usually a great pair but when it comes to foul mouthed dolphins? it's the only right answer. I really enjoyed this listen and recommend it to anyone who enjoys Scalzi.

Holy Wow! Did not expect so much!
Revisado: 09-11-23
so i dropped this trilogy long ago after "The Orc King" left me feeling ambivalent. Needed a fun listen I decided to give this one another chance. I don't know how he does it but Salvatore keeps these legendary characters feeling mortal and he drives that point home very clearly in this book. Anyone might die and more than a few do! I thought the narrator did a great job and I'm glad to see that he finishes the trilogy. There are so many characters and so many moving parts that i wouldn't tell anyone to "start here" but for those who know these characters this book was a lot of fun full of surprises.

Not What I Expected
Revisado: 06-16-23
This book leans very heavily into "give it to God". I was not prepared for that. I mean no disrespect but my idea of personal forgiveness involves a little more than trusting that it is in the purview to deal with this wrong so I can now be unburdened. Maybe this book heads down a road of self discovery and healing but I personally was not willing to wade through all of the religious aspects of this book early on I gave it 2 hours and it felt like plenty. Trust the reviews that say this book leans very heavily on faith in a Christian God. I believe that faith has merit for those who believe but if you are looking for something else I would keep looking.

i enjoyed this book and they read it perfectly, i guess i hoped it would highlight a little more of the work and struggle that led to becoming mythical but it was more like a good mythical morning version of that. which was perfectly fine i just hoped for a little more of the serious stuff to be sprinkled throughout

Historia
In the United States, teenagers can focus on one task for only sixty-five seconds at a time, and office workers average only three minutes. Like so many of us, Johann Hari was finding that constantly switching from device to device and tab to tab was a diminishing and depressing way to live. He tried all sorts of self-help solutions—even abandoning his phone for three months—but nothing seemed to work. So Hari went on an epic journey across the world to interview the leading experts on human attention—and he discovered that everything we think we know about this crisis is wrong.
