What would have been an interesting story completely polluted with the author's neurotic ramblings about his failing homosexual open relationship(100+ partners..), lack of personal self esteem(shocker), ageist condescension of his fellow passengers, and naturally... white privilege and "supremacy". We're also clued into the fact the Herman Melville's "Moby Dick" is qweer fetish fantasy...who knew?

Tedious.

full disclosure I purchased this audiobook thinking it was expanded take about Tacitus on Germania.

I found it interesting and was assuming it was filling some holes with factual history until it got to the 20th century... From there it started praising the Weimar era, rehashing old communist and socialist propaganda etc, forward to the reunification of Berlin and completely ignoring Reagan's iconic "tear down this wall" speech in 1987! It finished with how wonderful "progressive Germany" is now with its relatively easy emigration policies and its multicultural diversity...do the authors even read the news?

Every character voice is sqwalked at you from a narrator straight out of Borough Park NY...way too "Ethnic".

Probably a good book otherwise, and I did give it my best shot(more than half way through). I've chewed my way through some really bad narrators in my 400+ audiobooks, but this one beat me.

Harrison is creepy.

Well written story, but like most of the free Harrison titled recently released by Audible, there's some heavy pervy undertones. Lots of sex with much younger women(18-early 20s) with the lead characters being well past their prime. 2 different books featured said lead characters masturbating while watching under age teens through windows. I can perhaps understand if one flawed character is central to the story but when it happens repeatedly that's concerning to say the least. Also lots of racial stereotypes and slurs throughout several of his books.

I'm surprised he's so revered by most reviews here, but then there's also a decidedly leftist leaning to all of his leads so I guess he gets a pass by the Woke and Progressives.

Time to bring back book burnings. Made it about 45 minutes into the audio book and couldn't take any more. I had no idea the author was such a fucking degenerate. if it was made into a movie it would essentially be a snuff film. I think the reviewers who gave it such high marks should be on a watch list.
