The Bible is clear that all believers are called to defend their faith. However, if apologetics is the formal process that we have come to expect, this sounds like an impossible task. But what if apologetics could be part of natural, normal conversation ― both from the pulpit and in everyday life?

Less than What Was Expected
Revisado: 03-29-23
To be honest, I felt like this was a phone-in type of book. If you've spent some time studying the arguments for reformed theology and presuppositional apologetics, there will be a few takeaways, in my opinion. I took zero notes. I don't hold a mdiv or PhD, but there was nothing that even raised an eyebrow in this book. The same old song.
Reciting the common passages we've heard time and time again. A lot of preaching to the choir and self-aggrandizing stories about athletic and academic accomplishments. I was hoping that he would have taken me to some new places in my Bible. I imagine a man like this spends a lot of time in the Word. I spend time every day and find things I never noticed before. Surprising that Voddie could not bring one teaching or revelatory remark forward that has not been taught before. Glad I listened and did not read. Nothing new here.
But if you are new to this and not well-versed in reformed theology, this might help a bit. It doesn't explain presuppositionalism nor give examples of how to engage with people in a real-world manner. It just encourages you to do so.
At the end of the day, Expository Apologetics is understanding how to communicate sound Biblical truths in your own vernacular, make it conversational, unless you're speaking with a learned man of faith, then you can give to them verse and chapter.

Historia
Tim Kennedy has a problem; he only feels alive right before he’s about to die. Kennedy, a Green Beret, decorated Army sniper, and UFC headliner, has tackled a bull with his bare hands, jumped out of airplanes, dove to the depths of the ocean, and traveled the world hunting poachers, human traffickers, and the Taliban. But he’s also the same man who got kicked out of the police department, fire department, and as an EMT, before getting two women pregnant four days apart, and finally, been beaten up by his Special Forces colleagues.

Incredible Stories of Perseverance and Growth
Revisado: 10-05-22
Tim Kennedy is one of my favorite people on planet earth. He exudes an unrelenting positivity, aggression, and authenticity which can't be beat, or missed. I appreciate that he's shared his life so candidly, from intense personal losses to even more intense personal victories, and brings readers into his mindset, training, and warrior spirit through the harrowing tales he shares.
This book is also an exciting listen for MMA fans and folks who like war stories. You get some inside baseball on the UFC, and If you want to know what war is truly like, Tim does not spare the miraculous events or the grim details. It was entertaining to hear first hand about the early days of MMA and Chuck Liddell. Who can stack a resume like Tim Kennedy? Army Ranger, UFC Fighter, Hero, Businessman, and all around cool and good guy. It was nice to see the pitfalls in his life which cultivated the man we see today.
It was especially eye-opening to learn more about the situation in Afghanistan and his role in helping Americans and others escape. He's lived a remarkable life which seems to bring him more and more inward humility and a sense of service. Tim also narrates it himself which is a nice touch, although the reading is a bit staggered at times.
You'll enjoy every chapter of this book. It keeps the pedal to the floor and makes you smile over and over again. I'm ready for another go.

A Firm Two Stars
Revisado: 09-10-19
Hard to follow. Poorly narrated. Lack of continuity. Did not enjoy listening to the narrator and felt it was a bit arduous to get through. Ended up retaining little of the information shared, and felt it was poorly presented and failed to make a clear case of its findings.

One of the most significant books ever written by a head of state, the Meditations are a collection of philosophical thoughts by the Emperor Marcus Aurelius (121 - 180 ce). Covering issues such as duty, forgiveness, brotherhood, strength in adversity and the best way to approach life and death, the Meditations have inspired thinkers, poets and politicians since their first publication more than 500 years ago. Today, the book stands as one of the great guides and companions - a cornerstone of Western thought.

Listening to this book was like being in a master class taught by one of the foremost minds of the age. Brilliant and insightful. Aurelius's words cut to the bone with clarity and truth. Deep perspectives on life, pursuits of happiness, prosperity, and spirituality. Fascinating man and a brilliant performance by the reader. A+

Historia
Do you remember when you had your first thought of corporate America and working there? A job of high importance came to mind, maybe even wearing a suit and working in a fancy office. The sad truth in the matter of this place is, although it has its perks and benefits, it has about as much politics and as many cliques as the high school cafeteria. When thinking about life after high school we always imagined that the real world wouldn't have as many barriers.

Not Nearly In-depth Enough
Revisado: 08-31-17
Where does The 8 Laws of Corporate America rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Pretty low. It was too short to compare to other audio books. Why is this even an audiobook?
Would you recommend The 8 Laws of Corporate America to your friends? Why or why not?
No. Why recommend a book I could summarize in five minutes?
What does Cris Abernethy bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
His reading is crisp and clear, and his tone fits the subject matter.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Let's get down to brass tax.
Any additional comments?
Very short book, which was not what I was expecting. I love Greene as an author and the subjects he picks to research. I was hoping for a lot more from this title. Being someone that has had trouble navigating the murky waters and at times, subtle nuances of corporate America, I was hoping for more insight as to how to identify your own path and not just look for what to avoid.
The book does do a decent job of explaining the importance of "the game" and politics of working in a corporate environment but doesn't offer much refuge to those adverse to these corporate norms. I thought more insight could have been given in regards to how to play the game and why it's more important than just putting your heart into your work.

Historia
Widely hailed as a spiritual classic, this inspirational and unfailingly powerful story reveals the life and visions of the Lakota healer Nicholas Black Elk (1863–1950) and the tragic history of his Sioux people during the epic closing decades of the Old West. In 1930, the aging Black Elk met a kindred spirit, the famed poet, writer, and critic John G. Neihardt (1881–1973) on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota.

Remarkable Historical Account Unlike Anything
Revisado: 06-03-17
If you could sum up Black Elk Speaks in three words, what would they be?
Genuine. Deep. Fascinating.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Black Elk, of course. It was also enjoyable reading about Crazy Horse, Wild Bill and Queen Elizabeth.
Which character – as performed by Robin Neihardt – was your favorite?
Black Elk
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
When Black Elk explains his great vision and talks about their religion. It's remarkable the similarities with the Christian God. In essence, many of the same teachings.
Any additional comments?
A book I could not stop listening too! This was a fascinating historical account of the Oglala Souix, and a man who lived a remarkable life. It should be required reading for history classes. So much of what we are taught and what movies tell about indigenous American tribes is out right false. I'm grateful for accounts such as this, so we can know how it really was and that many peoples thrived in this land before us … in many ways that one might consider superior to our modern age.

Historia
In this primer of apologetic thought, Dr. Sproul affirms four logical principles that are necessary for all real discussion and teaches you how to defend your faith in a faithless world. Using the writings of church fathers and philosophers throughout the ages, he uncovers the common ideologies that work against faith. The defense of the faith is not a luxury or an intellectual vanity. It is a task appointed by God that you should be able to give a reason for the hope that is in you as you bear witness before the world.

Comprehensive Introduction to the Defense of Faith
Revisado: 05-01-17
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes, it's both well-read and performed. Listening to this material as a lecture also allows you to take effective notes. I thought the information was well-presented and R.C. Sproul does a great job of tackling the big issues concerning making a credible case for God.
I particularly enjoyed the section on science and world views which differ from the Christian origin story, and how to effectively reason with people who identify with a more scientific perspective on creation.
