Historia
"I had never planned to become a savanna baboon when I grew up; instead, I had always assumed I would become a mountain gorilla," writes Robert Sapolsky in this witty and riveting chronicle of a scientist's coming-of-age in remote Africa. An exhilarating account of Sapolsky's twenty-one-year study of a troop of rambunctious baboons in Kenya, A Primate's Memoir interweaves serious scientific observations with wry commentary about the challenges and pleasures of living in the wilds of the Serengeti-for man and beast alike.

surprisingly funny
Revisado: 10-28-24
very funny and the narrator did a great job. It instilled several emotions that I was surprised to feel by the end of the book. Anger, disgust, sadness, and happiness all rolled through me and left me a new appreciation for Baboons. I highly recommend!

There should really be a warning...
Revisado: 11-08-22
Most of the time if you run across a romance that touches on delicate subjects there's a trigger warning.... There should be a counterpart of that warning... like a bore you to tears warning. Or a religious romance warning... Either way I would have liked to know it was a Christian romance before I wasted my time.

Revisado: 07-13-22
The story, the narration, and the characters it was all bad! I couldn't get past the completely ridiculous and unneeded scene where she starts touching 'sensitive parts' of her body with her soapy hand! I could rant all about that scene and why it put me off so much but I will spare you.
I tried several times to power through the story and just couldn’t

Not my favorite
Revisado: 07-13-22
Painfully slow! The two main characters are just annoying and that’s all the story revolves around. I just couldn’t get into it. The narrator could have been better I concentrated more on the bad narration than the story. I would recommend a pass on this

Mediocre book with a predictable story and ending, one review called it background noise they hit it on the head. It didn't absorb your attention or have you wanting to come back to find out what happens next.

Historia
The tale begins in Dark Age Britain, a land where Arthur has been banished and Merlin has disappeared, where a child-king sits unprotected on the throne, where religion vies with magic for the souls of the people. It is to this desperate land that Arthur returns, a man at once utterly human and truly heroic: a man of honor, loyalty, and amazing valor; a man who loves Guinevere more passionately than he should; a man whose life is at once tragic and triumphant.

In depth history lesson
Revisado: 07-13-22
Super slow start I still don’t really know when the slow start ends… very tedious and overly detailed in the historical aspect I felt I needed reference materials to just keep up. I usually love historically spiced books with the STORY being the main point of the book with history and references to spice it up... this was the complete opposite of that. If you don't have a firm grasp on the history of Britain you will be lost.

The story was really flat and shallow the narrator was stilted and robotic more like reading a news story rather than feeling part of the action. It was boring and very forgettable

In fifth grade my teacher set us up with pen pals from a different school. Thinking I was a girl, with a name like Misha, the other teacher paired me up with her student Ryen. My teacher, believing Ryen was a boy like me, agreed. It didn't take long for us to figure out the mistake. And in no time at all, we were arguing about everything. The best take-out pizza. Android vs. iPhone. Whether or not Eminem is the greatest rapper ever. For the next seven years, it was us. She's the only one who keeps me on track, talks me down, and accepts everything I am.

not good
Revisado: 06-10-22
The best part was the narration. It was cute and predictable. A sanitized journey through time where there are no infections to wounds, no serious consequences to injury. The character development was rushed and shallow. I will NOT be buying book 2.

Predictable

The story line was predictable with no twists and turns and weak characters. I got bored with it very fast and tried to power through to the end but it just couldn't keep my attention.
