Historia
Joe Leaphorn may be long retired from the Navajo Tribal Police, but his detective skills are still sharp, honed by his work as a private detective. His experience will be essential to solve a compelling new case: finding the birth parents of a woman who was raised by a bilagáana family but believes she is Diné based on one solid clue, an old photograph with a classic Navajo child’s blanket.

Dreadful narration
Revisado: 12-05-24
Couldn’t finish. Wanted to, but the narration was like a junior high school student reciting in class. No differentiation between characters and no emotion when characters spoke.

Totally Formulaic

Wanna really torture a victim,? Make them listen to this. Every clichéd, overused contrivance. Every predictable character.

Historia
Geez, make a splash in the world of art forgery at the age of 17 and people can't stop bringing it up. Lesson learned: genuine art is priceless, and forgery gets you arrested. Now Annie puts her artistic talents to honest use as a faux finisher in San Francisco. But carving out a new reputation can be a creative challenge.... Modernism isn't Annie's thing, but even she is surprised to discover that the "sculpture" in a prestigious gallery's grisly new exhibition is an all-too-real corpse - the artist's.

Dial Down the Cuteness
Revisado: 07-09-23
As a professional muralist and scenic artist, and as a fan of mysteries, I should love this book. And I might, except for one thing: the relentless cuteness. It seemed that every single sentence had to express how offbeat and adorable the protagonist was. Jeez – dial it down and the work will be much more compelling.

Was the Narrator Being Tortured by Fascists?
Revisado: 03-12-22
A brilliant and important work made unlistenable by dreadful narration. Comical mispronunciations of relatively common names. Read like a long list of words without consideration of sentence structure - like a small child learning to read. Get the text.

Historia
Maps have a mysterious hold over us. Whether ancient, crumbling parchments or generated by Google, maps tell us things we want to know, not only about our current location or where we are going but about the world in general. And yet, when it comes to geo-politics, much of what we are told is generated by analysts and other experts who have neglected to refer to a map of the place in question.

A Cold War Infomercial
Revisado: 04-30-20
Premise looked interesting, but there was a lack of compelling information and a relentless patriotic jingoism. Scott Brick was wasted here.
