Historia
alaxy. Humanity was slowly making their way out from Earth to the planets and asteroids of the Solar System, exploring and mining and founding colonies. The mining ship El Cavador is far out from Earth, in the deeps of the Kuiper Belt, beyond Pluto. Other mining ships, and the families that live on them, are few and far between this far out. So when El Cavador's telescopes pick up a fast-moving object coming in-system, it's hard to know what to make of it. It's massive and moving at a significant fraction of the speed of light.

Multiple narrators are not good like this.
Revisado: 01-03-23
This is probably the worst way to incorporate multiple narrators. It's too easy to lose track of characters. Just have one person do each voice, and then have a dedicated narrator for the background and all non-dialogue words. It's worked quite well for other series.

Historia
Almost five years ago, America—as everyone knew it—came to an abrupt end in a spectacular coup d'état. It was called the Liberation by those progressives and radicals that screamed for its outcome; the Fall by its victims whose freedoms were trampled. The White House and the Capitol were overrun by anarchists, and the leaders of the once-proud nation were either imprisoned or sent to social quarantine camps. The president was arrested and eventually died in prison, or so everyone was led to believe. America was rebooted in a new progressive/socialist image, Newmerica.

Good story
Revisado: 06-07-22
The story is pretty good and I'd recommend for that, but the reading makes it a slog to get through. Weird pauses, voice volume fades in and out at times, many mispronounciations.. makes it tough to want to keep going.
edit: turns out the volume fading is just my bluetooth connection.

Historia
The Merry Band of Pirates offered the bad guys a ceasefire. We won’t mess with them, if they don’t mess with us. Easy, right? No. The aliens chose to do things the hard way. So, the Pirates are racing around the galaxy to clean up the threat to Earth. The infant UN Navy has their own mission with the Alien Legion: Get humanity some allies in the fight. And the Ethics & Compliance Office might have to do something...ethical. Unless they can find a way around it.

Historia
Traditional claims, modern borders, and the dreams for a better tomorrow clash when the IndoChina, backed Eastern Alliance, takes a new and aggressive stance on the world stage, ushering in the last great World War. A patient wait that was over a century long is rewarded when the Chinese portion of the Eastern Alliance Bloc makes their move in the Pacific. For decades, only the US Navy has held them back from reclaiming what they believe to be theirs. Now, the American forces are tired after decades of small wars, underfunded, and unprepared for what is coming.

Quite good
Revisado: 09-09-21
An enjoyable prequel to Odyssey for sure. I'm pretty sure I heard a Marine say Hooah though... will have to listen again to clarify.
I think this narrator did the best job of the four in this story so far.

Bob Johansson has just sold his software company for a small fortune and is looking forward to a life of leisure. The first item on his to-do list: Spending his newfound windfall. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and since the purchase have listened to it at least 7 times now. The next book releases will definitely be purchased as soon as they are available. Ray Porter does a magnificent job at narration with a very well written story.

Historia
From the Audie-nominated narrator of The Martian. In eleven years' time, a million members of an alien race will arrive at Earth. Years before they enter orbit, their approach will be announced by the flare of a thousand flames in the sky, their ships' huge engines burning hard to slow them from the vast speeds needed to cross interstellar space. These foreboding lights will shine in our night sky like new stars, getting ever brighter until they outshine even the sun, casting ominous shadows and banishing the night until they suddenly blink out.

Historia
The wreckage of the starship Odyssey, once Earth's greatest guardian, lies strewn across New York City. Abandoned by all but its captain, Odyssey's sacrifice covered the withdrawal of countless troops as the Drasin assault ravaged the planet. When Captain Eric Weston finally emerges from the rubble, impossibly alive thanks to the mysterious "Gaia", he knows with the Drasin it's kill or be killed.

I liked it, but...
Revisado: 05-19-15
The only thing I really dislike for this review is when narrators change during the series. While this narrator was still good, I was still thrown off often in the story due to the difference in voices for characters between the first three books and this one.
