Yes. An incredible statment on the human condition.
What was one of the most memorable moments of To Have and Have Not?
The death of Captin Morgan. The way his wife was given no time to morn. She simply moved on and started up with a new plan for her and the kids.

No. It's a book that's very clear on the authors stance. All points are clear as a bell.

I knew nothing of the Koran before I got this book. I need another viewpoint before I can recommend it.

If you were born before 1960, the hopelessness and futility makes perfect sense. Given the tools he had, what a wonderful statement. I loved it.
