Nice start to series
Revisado: 02-13-23
I agree that the narrator should have done her homework on some pronunciations, but on the whole, she was adequate. The audio editing was a little sketchy in places, dropping low so you missed the last word on some sentences, and there were a few spots where sentences were repeated.
On the whole, I enjoyed the story, although I started to cringe every time she got out another cigarette. The author may have been trying to emphasize her addictive personality, but it really dates the story.
I would get the next book in the series, but it’s not available on audible at this time.

Cute. Needs a little polish, but a pleasant, if somewhat predictable, story line. Interesting to see how the characters might develop.

Sad to say goodbye…
Revisado: 12-19-21
I think I’ve now read everything written by “Elizabeth Peters” at least once. When I need something to raise my spirits, and make me laugh, I can count on her.
This one did not disappoint. The only bad thing is that this is the last of Vicki Bliss, and there won’t be any more adventures.

Historia
Based on interviews with more than 100 people in five countries, The Art of Her Deal: The Untold Story of Melania Trump draws an unprecedented portrait of the first lady. While her public image is of an aloof woman floating above the political gamesmanship of Washington, behind the scenes Melania Trump is not only part of President Trump’s inner circle, but for some key decisions she has been his single most influential adviser.

Biased and one sided
Revisado: 07-27-21
I’m guessing the author did not have access to
most people who did not have a beef with Trump, so it’s no surprise that much of the emphasis was on the negative side of every story, and her scornful interpretation (she narrates her own book) gives evidence of her own attitude.
This becomes more evident toward the end of the book.
On the other hand, it does provide factual details, that if viewed without judgment, create an interesting picture of the First Lady.
I am glad I listened to the entire thing, even though it required a generous application of salt.

Distracting accent
Revisado: 05-24-21
Enjoyed the book, and the narrator was proficient. The slight southern drawl of the American Captain, who was supposedly from New York, was distracting, as was the slight Irish accent of the American boy, who was supposedly from Maryland, but perhaps his family had emigrated recently. I’m sure I was over thinking.

Michael Shellenberger has been fighting for a greener planet for decades. He helped save the world’s last unprotected redwoods. He co-created the predecessor to today’s Green New Deal. And he led a successful effort by climate scientists and activists to keep nuclear plants operating, preventing a spike of emissions. But in 2019, as some claimed "billions of people are going to die", contributing to rising anxiety, including among adolescents, Shellenberger decided that he needed to speak out to separate science from fiction.

Revisado: 11-20-20
I keep listening to these, as they are entertaining, but don’t expect any of this to be realistic. The idea that Betsy would get away with her investigations with any actual law enforcement agency strains credulity, and her cavalier attitude toward evidence is laughable. But I do keep listening. 😜

Stick with it...
Revisado: 08-07-20
I’ve listened to the entire Aunt Dimity series. They are charming stories, and always make me feel good. However, I almost quit in the middle of the first one because of the narrator’s slow, fussy, pedantic style. I found that if I increase the listening speed to 1.5x, I can listen without constantly being distracted by the narrator’s irritating attempts to differentiate the voices of the various characters.

Awful, awful, narrator…
Revisado: 07-06-20
It took me months to finish this first book as the narrator makes me want to punch something. The singsong, breathy, melodramatic delivery is better suited to a gothic romance, than a current day mystery.
I listened to the next two books, with different narrators, and enjoyed the stories, but then we were back to this irritating delivery. I speeded it up to 140%, and listened to a couple more, but I have to take a break to get through them.
I’m not sure if I dislike Lacey because of her self-involved, disastrous decision making, or because the delivery makes her grate on my last nerve. She never seems to learn anything from past experience.
Ok, I feel better. Now I’ll try to finish book 6. :-)
