Historia
It’s 2006. After a string of rejections from men who tell her they could never, ever, ever see her “that way,” awkward third-grade teacher Micaela Blei signs up for a mysterious course called “The Divine Feminine,” and feels like she might have found the key to the perfect life. Turns out if you’re an A student, you can get an A in anything–including men. Pretty soon she’s learning to "conjure" her desires with vision boards, flirtations, and even a daring jumbotron viewing party for her, ahem ... "divine center."

The best guidance for those in midlife
Revisado: 05-15-24
Dr. Hollis is my favorite personal development author. His insights and unique way of blending Jungian psychology with great works of literature has helper me traverse this territory over the last 8 years. He is a gift to humanity and I highly recommend all of his works, especially those he reads himself.

First published in 1988 - just four years after Capote's death - Clarke paints a vivid behind-the-scenes picture of the author's life, based on hundreds of hours of in-depth interviews with the man himself and the people close to him. From the glittering heights of notoriety and parties with the rich and famous to his later struggles with addiction, Capote emerges as a richly multidimensional person - both brilliant and flawed.

Revisado: 01-08-24
This was an Amazon suggestion based on past purchases of the Hughette Clark books, and I wasn’t sure what to expect but I thoroughly and completely enjoyed it. Liz Brown’s incredible research and writing combined with Bronson Pinchot’s outstanding narration made this the best audiobook I listened to in 2023 and in a very long time.

Not earth-shattering but important insight into Trump
Revisado: 07-17-20
Mary L. Trump is a hero and a patriot. She is the only person in his family or inner circle to put herself at risk to try to stop her uncle from inflicting more damage to our country. She has my eternal respect for this, and for that alone it's worth buying a copy of her book. The book doesn't really have earth-shattering information but it's a satisfying assessment of how horrible he is and how the entire family is a bunch of xenophobic criminals who have defrauded our country for the last 70+ years.

Did you know that most of our dinosaur fossils were discovered because two grown men absolutely hated each other? It’s true! Rivals! Frenemies Who Changed the World is a riotous audio exclusive, like if Monty Python taught your history class. Each volume of four 30-minute histories will dig into the petty name-calling and grumbling grudges that led to many of the world’s greatest advancements, all delivered with a cheeky sense of humor. Choose sides: Cope or Marsh, the jerks who discovered so many dinosaurs; Hamilton or Burr, whose rivalry fueled American politics; and many more....

Good information spoiled by corny production
Revisado: 07-12-19
The basic information in this book is interesting, but I found the audiobook production ruined the listening experience for me. Specifically, the audio production included goofy sound effects and modern-day dialogue spoken by actors that were more corny and annoying than funny, and this detracted from the otherwise interesting historic information presented in the book. The fourth chapter on the infamous Hamilton-Burr rivalry in particular was ruined by the actor and dumb lines atteributed to Hamilton, which was unfortunate because the author detailed a lot of information on the depth of that rivalry that isn't well known.

In Rethinking Narcissism listeners will learn that there's far more to narcissism than its reductive invective would imply. The truth is that narcissists (all of us) fall on a spectrum somewhere between utter selflessness on the one side and arrogance and grandiosity on the other. A healthy middle exhibits a strong sense of self.
