After years of self-exile, Jacinda “Jac” Brodie is back in Brook Haven, South Carolina. But the small cliffside town no longer feels like home. Jac hasn’t been there since the beloved chief of police fell to his death—and all the whispers said she was to blame. That chief was Jac’s father. DNF, absolutely terrible
Revisado: 11-22-24
DNF, I tried, I thought it would get better but finally at the halfway mark I gave up because it was actually getting worse. The characters are obnoxious, the writing is all over the place and there are lots of details that have no flow and aren’t even misdirects, just nonsense.

The only tolerable way to listen is at 1.5 speed then it’s great, otherwise it is miserable

Just okay
Revisado: 11-04-22
Well written but lacks depth and an actual plot, no twists or turns, I kept expecting something unexpected to happen and it never does, very boring for a mystery, wish I hadn’t wasted the credit.

April Clarke-Cliveden was the first person Hannah Jones met at Oxford. Vivacious, bright, occasionally vicious, and the ultimate It girl, she quickly pulled Hannah into her dazzling orbit. Together, they developed a group of devoted and inseparable friends—Will, Hugh, Ryan, and Emily—during their first term. By the end of the year, April was dead.

Just ok
Revisado: 02-23-22
After reading so many good reviews about the gotcha ending I was disappointed, it was easy to predict and while not terrible it certainly wasn’t a cliff hanger either.

Historia
I’d heard of the Baby Caroline case, of course. When a baby is snatched from her mother’s arms, the whole country knows about it. I knew about the parents left lying by the swimming pool, the open window in the nursery. But I never dreamed it had anything to do with me. Today, my beautiful daughter turned one. We were unwrapping gifts and blowing out candles when the knock came at the door, and they took my mother away. The police say she’s not really my mother. That she stole me, 30 years ago.

Story is ok, narration is annoying

Okay story, few twists and turns, the narrator sounds like she has a mouthful of water at all times and it is ver distracting.

Don’t waste your time and money
Revisado: 10-03-20
I almost quit listening half way through and now wish I had, it’s full of unnecessary drama, I don’t know if it was just the story or the narrator but I had my absolute fill of sobbing and cry talking, the main character is ridiculous. There was no mystery or intrigue, just an over top retelling of gossipy housewife drama punctuated with lots of sniveling.
