Historia
Anne Corey is about to get schooled. An English professor in California, she's determined to score a position on the coveted tenure track at her college. All she's got to do is get a book deal, snag a promotion, and boom! She's in. But then Adam Martinez - her first love and ex-fiancé - shows up as the college's new president. Funny, smart, and full of heart, this modern ode to Jane Austen's classic Persuasion explores what happens when we run into the demons of our past...and when they turn out not to be so bad, after all.

Stereotypical characters & predictable story
Revisado: 04-11-19
Stereotypical characters with single layer personalities, no interesting or realistic complexities. Lead Character, Anne, Is a lovestruck romantic that seems extremely immature especially for a thirty-something college professor that graduated from Princeton. Another character, who also graduated from Princeton, is stereotyped as a dumb actor who doesn’t know what a governesses or how to spell simple words. How did a graduate of Princeton turn out to be so dumb? Doesn’t seem very likely.
I also feel like the author should have spent more time on some of the supporting characters. I would like to know more about Jack and Bex and what motivated them in their relationship. I would also like to know more about Lauren and how her relationship evolved with her sister Anne.
The narrator’s performance is OK. However, I found it odd that a character who grew up in California had a slight foreign accent.

Historia
The secret behind France's astonishingly well-behaved children is here. When American journalist Pamela Druckerman has a baby in Paris, she doesn't aspire to become a "French parent". French parenting isn't a known thing, like French fashion or French cheese. Even French parents themselves insist they aren't doing anything special. But French children are far better behaved and more in command of themselves than American kids....

Both very helpful & enjoyable
Revisado: 01-13-19
Well this book is intended to be a helpful resource and tutorial on French parenting styles, it reads like a story. I look forward to each chapter.
At times, in the book can be a little critical of American parenting styles. But in whole, I feel the French approach to parenting is one that I want to instill in our household. In fact, I’ve already started practicing some of their methods and have found them to work very well.
I highly recommend this to expectant parents & parents of young children and infants.

A fun read

I enjoyed the book very much. The narration was wonderful and the story had me excited to keep going. I laughed out loud and cheered for my favorite characters.
My only negative is the friends that the main character surrounds herself with. Their personalities are not those of a friends.

Historia
Lucy Hutton has always been certain that the nice girl can get the corner office. She's charming and accommodating and prides herself on being loved by everyone at Bexley & Gamin. Everyone except for coldly efficient, impeccably attired, physically intimidating Joshua Templeman. And the feeling is mutual. Trapped in a shared office together 40 (ok, 50 or 60) hours a week, they've become entrenched in an addictive, ridiculous never-ending game of one-upmanship.

Sample before you buy
Revisado: 06-30-17
I had a tough time getting through the beginning of the book. The characters were immature and their personalities and behaviors were unrealistic. I started enjoying the book as I got further in but the way the characters were written took away from the story. This may be more of a personal preference in writing styles. I would recommend listening or reading the sample before purchasing.

Incomplete Story & monotone reader
Revisado: 04-10-17
The story was anticlimactic. I would consider this to be an excerpt from a book rather than a stand alone story. I also did not like the narrator. The voices, especially for the male lead were dry, unemotional and distracting from the story.
