Historia
There are millions of stories in the city - some magical, some tragic, others terror-filled or triumphant. Jonah Kirk’s story is all of those things as he draws listeners into his life in the city as a young boy, introducing his indomitable grandfather, also a "piano man"; his single mother, a struggling singer; and the heroes, villains, and everyday saints and sinners who make up the fabric of the metropolis in which they live - and who will change the course of Jonah’s life forever. Welcome to The City, a place of evergreen dreams where enchantment and malice entwine.

Entertaining book
Revisado: 03-31-25
Nice story, with some bits of magic here and there but overall a soft (for the most part) entertaining read. The evolution of the story was somewhat predictable but enjoyable non the less.
The performance was good as well.

Historia
“You like it darker? Fine, so do I,” writes Stephen King in the afterword to this magnificent new collection of twelve stories that delve into the darker part of life—both metaphorical and literal. King has, for half a century, been a master of the form, and these stories, about fate, mortality, luck, and the folds in reality where anything can happen, are as rich and riveting as his novels, both weighty in theme and a huge pleasure to digest.

Great short stories!
Revisado: 03-25-25
Great short stories overall all of them, Although I would say only one or two are what I would consider horror.
The good stuff:
All stories are good but not all horror.
I wish “ The Turbulence expert” was longer, seamed like a great premise to a bigger thing.
“Laurie” got me close to tears with what almost happened.
My favorite was “Rattlesnakes”, with the creepy hauntings and ghosts.
The slightly less good :
“Danny Coughlin's Bad Dream” annoyed me a bit, the detective went obsessed and even delusional really fast, and considering it was one of the longest stories it became a bit annoying to me to constantly hear his unreasonable logic and behavior, but even so overall was a good story and it had a good ending.
Performance was good.
I would give it a 4.5 overall.
And would recommend

Overall a good book
Revisado: 02-25-25
This book tells us multiple stories from de different characters lives, but the most emotional and important one for me was by far the grandmother’s from the life during the WWII to surviving in the concentration camp till her final release, it had me in tears so many time. The story of the granddaughter (Sage) was nice but overall predictable to me, same for the twist on the end as well. Performance wise it was very good in my opinion.
Overall a good book

Boring
Revisado: 02-12-25
Had a hard time actually finishing this book. The first story is interesting and from then on it progressed into a very boring book, that I had to repeatedly come back and forward because I lost interest and ended up not knowing what happened, the way that the story is presented and progressed didn’t help in that matter.
The narrator was ok not the best but not the worst, would a better one make this audiobook a better experience ? Maybe but overall I don’t get the high reviews and didn’t like it.

Very long Goosebumps book.
Revisado: 11-10-24
This book was not what i expected, sadly in a bad way. The no end fighting between the siblings, the story itself ( not wanting to give spoilers) goes on and on, and on, for way to long, And the puppet voices ( that is only on audio format),/ speeches on repeat it just got annoying.
There is a point in the middle of the book i actually thought the book had ended ( it didn’t), and I would i actually had prepared if that was the end of the book, then what the end was just because of how ridiculous it just gets my opinion, either all the “puppet action” at the end.
Feels more like a Goosebumps book to me then actually Horror, maybe I would have liked it as a teen , as an its a no
Performance wise it’s ok, again constantly hearing those puppet voices gets really annoying, other then that not the best but have heard way worse.
Overall wouldn’t recommend.

When Brian Holloway (Jack Quaid, The Boys) was hired by famous horror author Paul Robinette (Titus Welliver, Bosch) to crack an antique safe in his home, he had no idea what he was about to encounter. Opening that safe door unleashed something sinister — something that continues to haunt him. But what exactly? And can whatever slipped through that threshold be stopped?

Loved it!
Revisado: 05-19-24
For those that love spooky mysteries with a bit of ghost in it you will love this! It’s not too scary and doesn’t have gore in it, but the atmosphere and the mystery surrounding the unique “safe”, and what it actually is grips you very fast.
Performance wise tit’s very well made all of the cast were amazing.
The story itself was very interesting and had a great evolution, you will catch yourself listening to this in a binge. Actually wish it was longer, the ending was good but left me wanting more of this world.
Overall absolutely recommend.

Amazing book! Hope it’s the end book of the series!
Revisado: 04-21-24
I was fighting myself to pick this one up after the end of the last book of this series which broke my heart and made me hate the “zombie conscience soldier thing” even more. In the beginning it seamed like another Gus goes down the Psychotic brake down like the second book of the series, it eventually becomes more of the awesome story we love, as other characters come into play.
The ending especially I liked it so much that I honestly wish it’s the end of the series! I much rather have it end at a high note and leave it at that, than spoil such beautiful thing.
Only negative, and this is me being picky is performance wise when we shifted characters it would be difficult to distinguish who was who because they all kind of sound the same.
Overall loved it would recommend this one, and the series to any zombie “lover”absolutely!!!

Entertaining short listen
Revisado: 02-24-24
Really enjoyed this one! The plot was very interesting, actually realistic I don’t know. From the development of the characters considering, to the pace of the story and eventually its conclusion, taking in consideration it’s a shorter story was an entertaining listen. There is some mentions of code language that I don’t know if are accurate or not but are there, the only thing I really didn’t like was the description of the software engineer, this notion that software engineer are all short with glasses and slimy looking is outdated and wrong!
Performance wise at 1.2x speed was perfect for me.

Nice mystery/ horror story!
Revisado: 02-16-24
The more I listen to this author books the more I like her I must say! The book seams more oriented for Young adults, as many of her books in my opinion, that being said, the introduction of the Filipino culture makes up for it for me and that was the real appeal, the “evil god” that lives on the island and the way it manifests itself was for me something new and different. The book is LGBT+ friendly with the main character being non binary, which I also thought was nice and for me something new. The only reason I didn’t give the story 5 stares is because I overall knew how it was going to end,
The performance was pretty good I listen at 1,2 speed and the reader kept me engaged the entire time.

Historia
Following the events in Network Effect, the Barish-Estranza corporation has sent rescue ships to a newly colonized planet in peril, as well as additional SecUnits. But if there's an ethical corporation out there, Murderbot has yet to find it, and if Barish-Estranza can't have the planet, they're sure as hell not leaving without something. If that something just happens to be an entire colony of humans, well, a free workforce is a decent runner-up prize. But there's something wrong with Murderbot; it isn't running within normal operational parameters.

Amazing series overall, this one is my least favorite though
Revisado: 01-10-24
I found the this book series by change and got automatically hooked, listening to all the books in less then a week, with the exception of the prequel that left for last, because I had to know what was going to happen next.
In Network Effect the plot didn’t capture my attention as much, felt it dragged a bit in some parts overall but the ending was amazing so it balanced it out. This one is set on the same planet, the characters are now trading to save the people from the colonies, from the company ill intent but I couldn’t care less and part of it is because I was bored of that story already in the previous book, the interactions between murderbot and art are amazing, and him learning to deal with his trauma feelings make the book ok, but by far my least favorite of the entire series.
The performance is the same in all of them and quite good in my opinion so if you liked it in the others this one is the same in that regard.
