Historia
There are several general principles used in permissive or indirect hypnotherapy. This audiobook is a brief introduction to the principles behind Erickson's unique form of psychotherapy. Milton H. Erickson, M.D. was an American psychiatrist who pioneered several indirect or permissive hypnosis techniques. He also developed several naturalistic techniques using metaphors and stories. He is one of the two most important figures in the development of hypnosis and hypnotherapy in the 20th century. His techniques have been used in behavioral and medical applications.

Fun experiences. Probably better in print.
Revisado: 06-08-22
I had some fun experiences after listening to this. Content is good.
Probably better in print, though. Choquette is quite good on video, but her reading is slow and stilted, more like she’s reading a children’s bedtime story than anything. Rather distracting.
Things are also a little off kilter, not beginning where they should.

Zen for sports fans
Revisado: 05-21-22
Entire concept (and a good one) is laid out in the first couple of chapters, elaborated in the next couple. His application of this game plan for life to his bout of “the C word”, for example, is quite useful.
After that, the book is an extended recognition of the people who helped him with “the C word”. On the whole, the book gets a bit tedious.

Sy Montgomery's popular 2011 Orion magazine piece, "Deep Intellect", about her friendship with a sensitive, sweet-natured octopus named Athena and the grief she felt at her death, went viral, indicating the widespread fascination with these mysterious, almost alien-like creatures. Since then Sy has practiced true immersion journalism, from New England aquarium tanks to the reefs of French Polynesia and the Gulf of Mexico, pursuing these wild, solitary shape-shifters.

I’ve listened twice — so far.
Revisado: 09-07-21
Compelling. One of my favorites. I’m a SCUBA diver, but I’ve never been lucky enough to see an octopus. My son has. He waited with complete calm and was rewarded when it came out to check him out. He with It played with it — it played with him! for quite some time.
I learned SO much from this book. It was a joy to listen to. Couldn’t stop, until there was no more. THAT made me sad. Can’t wait to go to the Seattle Aquarium!

Dreadful. Monotonous drone.
Revisado: 04-02-20
Like listening to a class outline.
Worse, still, the “performance”. Most anatomy terms mispronounced. You’d think, given that this subject is anatomy, that the narrator would have taken the trouble to find out how these words were pronounced.
Monotonous drone.
Hoped to find diagrams and anatomy “maps” in the Kindle version. Nope. It is, in fact, an outline.

Historia
Germany, 1942. Franciscan friar Anton Starzmann is stripped of his place in the world when his school is seized by the Nazis. He relocates to a small German hamlet to wed Elisabeth Herter, a widow who seeks a marriage - in name only - to a man who can help raise her three children. Anton seeks something too - atonement for failing to protect his young students from the wrath of the Nazis. But neither he nor Elisabeth expects their lives to be shaken once again by the inescapable rumble of war.

Good book. Distracting performance.
Revisado: 04-14-19
The reader seems to have a pretty good German accent, so I don’t understand why he populated an entire German village with Yorkshireman. One German character speaks with a proper English accent. In fact, there’s not a single English character in the story. It’s one thing for the narrator to have an English accent, but German characters? Then, 9 hours in, a group of refugees arrive from Eger (now in Hungary). Scots, every one. Really? Not a German-speaking German in the whole thing.
Annoying and distracting from the story.
The story, itself, is intresteding, if difficult to pay attention to, because of the narration.

Disappointing
Revisado: 03-29-18
I looked forward to a great listening experience, focused on spirituality. Unfortunately, spirituality takes a back seat. Quinn's life story is somewhat interesting, but the number of names dropped became offputting. With the exception of John Tower, whose name is vital to the event, the book would have been better/stronger and shorter without most of the names. We all know she has known high-profile people.

Early in her life, Josephine Malone learned the hard way that there was only one person she could love and trust: her grandmother, Lydia Malone. Out of necessity, unconsciously and very successfully, Josephine donned a disguise to keep all others at bay. She led a globetrotting lifestyle on the fringes of the fashion and music elite, but she kept herself distant. While Josephine was trotting the globe, retired boxer Jake Spear was living in the same small town as Lydia.

Awkward, self-conscious, cumbersome misuse of the English language. Repetitive. Tedious. Never using one simple, straight-forward word, when a more contrived one would do -- often not even the right word.
The story little more than a flimsy vehicle for exceedingly graphic, overly long sex scenes.

Historia
When twenty-two-year-old Jennifer Worth, from a comfortable middle-class upbringing, went to work as a midwife in the direst section of postwar London, she not only delivered hundreds of babies and touched many lives, she also became the neighborhood';s most vivid chronicler. Woven into the ongoing tales of her life in the East End are the true stories of the people Worth met who grew up in the dreaded workhouse, a Dickensian institution that limped on into the middle of the twentieth century.
