Historia
Join David as he encounters his eccentric Aunt Betsey, faithful Peggotty and the villainous Uriah Heep, and as he falls in love with Little Em'ly, Dora and Agnes. And then there is old school friend James Steerforth: dashing, daring and seductive. This dramatisation explores the complexities and intimacies of that relationship beyond anything possible in Dickens' day, in an adaptation giving fresh life and vividness to this beloved tale.

Love it!
Revisado: 12-03-23
The best adaptation of a personal favorite book. Will make you laugh and cry. Like the book, the characters stay with you for a long time. Some homoerotic innuendos hinted between Daisy and Steerforth in Yarmouth. Agree or disagree, it's a very compelling interpretation of this beloved book. Excellent performances by the cast. The actor who voiced young David was awesome.

Historia
From the celebrated neurobiologist and primatologist, a landmark, genre-defining examination of human behavior, both good and bad, and an answer to the question: Why do we do the things we do? Sapolsky's storytelling concept is delightful but it also has a powerful intrinsic logic: He starts by looking at the factors that bear on a person's reaction in the precise moment a behavior occurs, and then hops back in time from there, in stages, ultimately ending up at the deep history of our species and its evolutionary legacy.

So much to learn here
Revisado: 12-30-21
I'm not a regular science book reader/listener. I listened and read the paperback simultaneously. Lots to digest. I don't know if I fully digested this book but I'm sure I will give this a second reading/listen. Eye-opening chapter on how to approach reforming the criminal justice system. Highly recommended.

What does Malcom X and M. Ganhdi have in common?
Revisado: 10-23-21
This is a great lecture. For the first four lectures, he takes the usual route to discuss freedom in the West: Plato, St. Augustine, Rousseau, Hegel, Mill. But I really enjoyed the last three parts of the lecture where he discusses the connection between Gandhi, Malcolm X, and MLK. It's a highly personal take on Malcolm X which I enjoyed hearing.

Historia
At 17, Mei should be in high school, but skipping fourth grade was part of her parents' master plan. Now a freshman at MIT, she is on track to fulfill the rest of this predetermined future: become a doctor, marry a preapproved Taiwanese Ivy Leaguer, produce a litter of babies. With everything her parents have sacrificed to make her cushy life a reality, Mei can't bring herself to tell them the truth - that she (one) hates germs, (two) falls asleep in biology lectures, and (three) has a crush on her classmate Darren Takahashi, who is decidedly not Taiwanese.

Great book, lousy narration
Revisado: 09-18-21
I enjoyed the story but the narration is a disgrace. Annoying almost whisper level. And the voice is too somber to reflect the character at all. It's a pity. A different narrator could have made a great book and great listen.

Historia
We all want to live long, healthy, and happy lives. But the path to achieve this-fitness and nutrition-is fraught with popular yet dangerously misleading myths about personal wellness. How do you separate the fact from the fiction? How can you recognize when you're doing your body more harm than good? Scientific knowledge has greatly expanded our understanding of how the human body works, laying many previously held ideas about fitness and nutrition to rest.

I really enjoyed this course. It combines practical tips on nutrition and exercise with science-based studies. The instructor was easy to understand and he perfectly combines practical knowledge with science. Highly recommended. Lessons that will help you maintain a healthy life and exercise course.
