Historia
In Chase Darkness with Me, you’ll ride shotgun as journalist Billy Jensen identifies the Halloween Mask Murderer, finds a missing girl in the California Redwoods, and investigates the only other murder in New York City on 9/11. You’ll hear intimate details of the hunts for two of the most terrifying serial killers in history: his friend Michelle’s pursuit of the Golden State Killer which is chronicled in I’ll Be Gone In The Dark which Billy helped finish after Michelle’s passing, and his own quest to find the murderer of the Allenstown 4 family.

Really pulls you into the process
Revisado: 07-27-24
Enjoyed hearing about his process for solving the murders and the success stories. I felt there were too many unsolved mysteries shared in the book. You get invested and want to know the answers and then it never comes. I get that is the reality of true crime chasing, but as a listener it felt like it was missing some sort of conclusion even if it wasn’t the crime being solved.
I also got confused about the timeline. It jumped around a lot and sometimes changed gears suddenly. I’d be invested in one crime investigation and then it suddenly switches to another without much of a transition, and I’d be confused and not understand how it relates to what he was just talking about. The answer was it doesn’t relate and is a whole new crime. Jumping around is understandable but there needed to be better transitions so the listener can follow the relevancy of the topic change.
Overall an enjoyable listen.

Historia
Despite the tumor-shrinking medical miracle that has bought her a few years, Hazel has never been anything but terminal, her final chapter inscribed upon diagnosis. But when a gorgeous plot twist named Augustus Waters suddenly appears at Cancer Kid Support Group, Hazel’s story is about to be completely rewritten. The Fault in Our Stars is insightful, bold, irreverent, and raw. It brilliantly explores the funny, thrilling, and tragic business of being alive and in love.

Sad love story
Revisado: 03-04-24
This was a love story but it was also a cancer story which means you know from the beginning it won’t have a happy ending but even so I’d say the ending is as happy as you could expect given the parameters of the story.
Death sucks no matter how or when it comes. But this story gives a perspective on how to live life despite knowing it is going to end sooner than it should. There are a few things in the story that I didn’t like but did found understandable that the characters reacted the way did, especially with remembering that these characters are teenagers that never really were able to live a full childhood due to limitations of their disease. For that I feel bad for them, but couldn’t fully relate to how they acted as it sometimes came across as really bratty even if I could understand why they reacted the way they did.

Keeps you guessing
Revisado: 03-29-23
Lots of twists and turns throughout to keep you interested! Was excited to listen to more and see where the story was going.
Some of the twists I saw coming and some I didn’t so all round a good mystery/thriller. Even when characters persisted in making the same mistakes the author was good at helping you see the situation to understand where the character was coming from.
While I didn’t love the ending I did feel it ended well and gives the message that the web of lies just keeps going until someone breaks the pattern. The person at the end doesn’t break the pattern though and you are left wondering what happens to the character afterwards. A good story should have at least a little bit of that however so it wasn’t a break point for me so far as being satisfied with the ending.

Historia
Rex Fortescue, king of a financial empire, was sipping tea in his "counting house" when he suffered an agonizing and sudden death. On later inspection, the pockets of the deceased were found to contain traces of cereals. Yet, it was the incident in the parlor that confirmed Miss Marple's suspicion that here she was looking at a case of crime by rhyme....

Fun story but ending disappointing
Revisado: 01-15-23
I enjoyed the story and mystery but was disappointed in how it ended. Don’t want to spoil anything specific but the ending basically solves the mystery but doesn’t have a final scene with actually confronting the culprit.
This makes the ending unsatisfactory for me and leaves a sense of wanting to know what happens to several characters at the end when the person is apprehended (if they are at all or if they escaped).

Always been my favorite book
Revisado: 12-01-22
Book 3 in this series has always been my favorite. Listening to it as adult a few aspects are much clearer to me for why they had to happen in the way they did. The end third especially is so good!

I’ve listened to this whole series many times over the years and Jim Dale is the best narrator for the story!
Great story as well, although listening as the adult does give a different perspective to when I listened as a kid!

Enjoyable listen
Revisado: 11-12-22
I’ve wanted to read the lord of the rings series for years but could never get through the book via reading due to the writing style. It is much more enjoyable to listen to then to read and I felt the narrator did a pretty good job and kept my attention.
Without the knowledge of the story from the movies I think I’d have gotten confused or bored at parts but with how often I’ve seen the movies it was really interesting to listen to the book and see the differences in the two stories. Looking forward to listening to the remained of the series and rewatching the movies as I finish the books!

Good performance but story lacking
Revisado: 10-28-22
I overall enjoyed listening to this book and was prepared in advance for how fantastical the story was. The idea that teens and adults would go violent so quickly when separated from society and phones was rather ridiculous.
This ridiculousness was even mentioned in the story but without ever providing a satisfactory answer to the question. It was an interesting thought experiment for what might happen when social rules no longer apply.
Once violence was introduced the continuation of it is somewhat understandable when the choice becomes fight or die, but I’m not sure if the progression of how quickly they fell into violence and killing is at all realistic. I really hope not at any rate!

Historia
Love, Lucy is the valentine Lucille Ball left for her fans—a warm, wise, and witty memoir written by Lucy herself. The legendary star of the classic sitcom I Love Lucy was at the pinnacle of her success when she sat down to record the story of her life. No comedienne had made America laugh so hard, no television actress had made the leap from radio and B movies to become one of the world’s best-loved performers. This is her story—in her own words.

Enjoyable
Revisado: 07-20-22
I really enjoyed listening to this book. I love Lucy always reminds me of my grandmother and I liked learning more about the individuals behind it. Lucille Ball was a very fun woman and he daughter did a great job with the narration!
I do wish there was some sort of “afterward” to conclude the story since the end felt rather abrupt. Doesn’t make my rating less but would have liked something a little bit more at the end similar to the intro at the beginning.
