WTF!?
Revisado: 03-21-25
I have no idea what this 3rd season is about. Not even what timeframe it is. I probably missed something in first book, which I liked regarding Wraith. i assume that was Chun interrogate the guy that made Ford/Fast/Keel a bounty hunter.
This not so much. Mainly combat description all book, which is not good enough without a plot.
i think my runtime for this series is very low now.

How stupid can a MC be
Revisado: 02-27-25
I am so tired of stories that depends on main characters doing stupid things. in this story MCs career and mental health suffered because she was stupid and didn't listen to anyone several years ago.
So in the present she continues to do stupid stuff (open an office door, see a body bludgeoned to death, ppl come fast ofc, then run away... she used to be FBI... ). I guess this time it will end well...

2 books? And where is Ray?? (or "the new guy")
Revisado: 01-06-25
Half a story, making 2 books of this to make more money is ridiculous. Next part is released 1 week after this, so no reason regarding not finished.
Very disappointed by narrator. So many good narrators. Are the authors going broke? 2 books instead of 1 and a "low budget" narrator.

Historia
Twenty years ago, the Merge brought armies of monsters flooding into the West Coast. Dungeons popped up in shopping malls, airports, and Starbucks. Walls were built to contain the spread, but the promise of priceless loot dropped by the creatures inspired a new type of gold rush. Clay Jaeger has nothing left outside the walls. Civilization took everything he worked for, chewed it up, and spat it out. Now Clay, his wife Alex, and his beer-loving, chainsaw-toting brother, Joe, are going west to try their hand at monster killing.

Historia
Silas is growing into the responsibilities weighing him down. Earth is struggling, but there is hope. The deals that Silas has made have brought resources and trainers to Earth. He's helped some leaders gain an understanding of what they will face. His team has continued to grow but now he finds himself facing the greatest challenge to any Forerunner, the Wild Hunt. He'll be hunted but also have to hunt other Forerunners while forging a shaky alliance with those he can't trust. Even more disturbing, it seems like there might be more than one system to choose from.

Good plot/stupid MC
Revisado: 11-15-24
A good plot, excellent narrator (probably why I managed to supress my problem with MC..)
1 Basically in team battle he looks in "awe" before maybe doing one attack to killsteal. Maybe if author wrote in third person or used WHILE THEY did x, I did y he maybe come off as more than a commentary.
2 To keep the debuff dagger with extra damage while 39 in skill when you are friends with a rogue...(he has used it 3 times)
3 In one battle he chose not to heal his party because "he wouldn't always be around" ?!? (But you were there and your role was to heal!)
4 if I continue I probably will stop listening to it. Maybe first series I hope will stop after next book, but I doubt it.
Also regarding most litrpg. Why 10k in stats after a few months. Imo just making it seems even more OP than usual. Also, resurrection? Game or real world... Tsk.
I will continue the series. mostly because of Travis. But it is my least favorite of my LitRpg series which is:
1 Primal Hunter/Defiance of the fall (
2 DCC and Chrysalis (Antventure)
probably not feasible to rank them. They are spilt up because latter 2 is so funny aswell! I hate that the audiobooks on several of them don't have a release date.
But probably first MC I dislike since He who fight monsters, which I really disliked enough to not continue the series and probably made me biased towards Aussie series, especially if they talk about "a Barbe" (barbecue). Wow, roasting meat is something new in a fantasy world... WTF!

Awesomest
Revisado: 11-10-24
This is the first time I've had to wait for a release as I found this series when the 9 first books had been released.
I so hate this. When watching TV series, I often wait until the whole season (if not serie) is finished. However regards to this* that really is no choice. I read some reviews on this book. I think it is just getting better and better. The only thing that really got under my skin is the delayed release of the audiobook compared to Kindle and"analog" book. Anyway, I would not ruining my experience with a random AI voice from Kindle if they couldn't replicate Travis' voice. And I doubt that is doable for a while (and not cost ridiculous amount and limit how long you can use the voice.....)
Anyway. If you read this review, you probably know what to expect, and atleast I was not disappointed. Actually reading the whiners regards to this book, it made it better!
Enjoy!
*(and 2-3 other litrpg (or what they are called, not sure what xiantia or whatever the similarly ones is, but I think my favorites is pure litrpg (DotF, DCC and Chrysalis (the Antventure one, as it seems there is another one with the name).

If you read this book, I guarantee you that it is impossible to not finish the series.
However I think that ship would probably have passed after Age of Swords. (Am I right?! 😉)
(It maybe be possible to stop after Age of War, but why would anyone do that??? I write this on my 2nd or 3rd time "plowing" through. And this is where it is really starting to come together (Especially the last part in this book and next is of an "epic" quality (you know epic poems? Dante (Homer?) etc. I am so amazed over how good and how I mess up my sleeping schedule because I NEED to just listen 1 more chapter ("and I might not need to be so awake tomorrow.... Well expect to continue the listening ofcourse....")

May contain spoilers regard to the serie(s) for "new" readers.
Revisado: 10-26-24
I think this serie was my first meeting with Elan and Michael Sullivan. I loved it at the time and I still do. I also see how Michael have developed as a writer. So even when writing a follow up (Drumindor in Chronicles have just been released) it almost click in place like a "Belgrudian" lock!
Of course he didn't plan writing about how Royce and Hadrian did the Drumindor job in the first place. How the effect of the main wheel function changed from this edition to Drumindor was just sloppy tho, but that should be in Drumindor review.
Anyway that is just a technicality. I think I only listened to this serie (Revelations) once. I have however listened to Legends of the First Empire minimum 2 times and I will read it again after Heir of Novron. I did read all of chronicles before Drumindor was released, just to have everything in perspective. I actually thought Crown Tower was the start of Revelations for 4 sentences when it was said they worked together for 12 years in Theft of Swords before I got that I had the books mixed up.
Anyway, if you for some reason thinking about reading this book (I get you probably will have read Theft of Swords already) I personally would start over with Legends and continue in chronological order, not when the series was written. I assure you that you will both appreciate the storyline better AND not atleast Michael Sullivan work on writing it. The world of Elan is almost like Tolkiens Middle Earth (if you have read all extra material and Silmarillion that is,). Michael is however making alot of Tolkiens notes regards to Elven grammer and history of Middle Earth in his extra material (in Lotr) or the notes they just published as a book (Silmarillion). However Michael include all of those muths/history in the Legends series and in the Rise and Fall he explains how the stories people that actually was present manage to twist events to whatever suits them. "History is always written by the winners" is a very true saying, both in Elan and our own reality and even here it seems to change every week at the time I write this (October 24).
However if the world still give you the opportunity to still buy books in 14 days time, I do recommend even if you finish this series first, Atleast then go back to learn about the actually story about how the first empire started and what all the "fuss" is about regards to alot of the importance of the things mentioner in this series. However remember this was the first series Micheal published about Elan so you will also get the chance to see how he evolve into a very good writer (I give compliments like Royce. I compared him with Tolkien already, and I think Michael came out on top. However I think Michael (even I know he didn't have an easy start on his career (sp?)) (and other writers) have it much easier to write today than just mid 20th century (Lotr published just after WWll). Both regards to not starving to death if noone published you, the equipment (a word processor) and even the opportunity of self publishing (I think Michael was maybe to early for that). In addition Tolkien made a "fairytale" which most people thought was a children's book. The genre did not really exist at time (a few exceptions, Lewis Carrolls Alice in wonderland/through the looking glass (Lewis Carroll was an mathematic teacher when he wrote those books. It also has some rumors that some magic mushrooms had something to do with his amazing imagination.)
way off topic. Anyway, This book is the second to last book in a 17 (or 20 where this is 3+4 of 6) book serie of series.
This is late to recommend chronological reading as this is as said almost the end. However you will read Theft of Swords again after 14 amazing serie (including its own "Divine Comedy" (Dante)) with a whole new insight with new insight!

Probably the best revelation (after 2first as one)
Revisado: 10-22-24
I started my knowledge of Elan whith chronicles. I have always liked fantasy and it was better than expected. So when I discovered the Legends of empire and I think the Age of Death was (for me), a better version than Dante and "the other ones" (If remember right I know several others (paradise lost? etc).
i think I have atleast read it twice.
Anyway. This is so far the best revelation I read. I like books best when crossing 20hrs aswell. (when good.My opinion are that it is a major accomplishment if you manage to get a story interesting for 20hrs. )
so I am just halfway (I don't understand that someone manage to write a review after 4 chapters, I can't..)
I always wondered how Royce and Gwen managed to get it together. I tried to follow timeline, and it started to close up to a certain "deadline".
Michael claim he thinks to read his series in published order. I don't. I would read it in chronological order (Legends, Rise and Fall, revelations (so far it goes) then chronicles. )
Anyway, it is hard to compare the books and especially the series. This looks so far to be one of the best revelation book anyway. (and since I just manage to get through Rise and Fall and the 4 revelation books the day before I got this, I will continue with chronicles before do Legends again, while waiting for some other series I wait for next book in. (I wish George $&!?# Martin (GoT guy) and Orson something (Alvin Maker) had Michaels idea of how to make a series. I don't think these Series will ever be completed...
Fortunately Michael is someone that do his job like Royce would. Thoroughly!
